Well it all depends on what you've got.
I use gimp for mine.
In gimp you use the fuzzy select tool then go to color to alpha and change the background color (typically white) to transparent.

You can also use lunapic if you don't have gimp or some other program.
Its a free image editing website.
And they do have a part for transparent images.
