Most of the time your thread will be closed simply because no one has posted on it in the last two weeks. If a contest thread breaks the rules, or the thread creates a lot of controversy, it can also be closed. Sometimes a moderator will close a thread because the original poster asked a question that has already been thoroughly answered, or because it duplicates another thread.
The best way to find out is simply to PM a moderator. They can tell you exactly why the thread was closed.
I've had my thread closed a few times, and I must say it is disappointing and frustrating. When my thread was closed, I didn't get a notification, but i have heard that getting PM'd is true. The best way to get help to know why your thread is closed is to simply pm a moderator.
Moderators keep a close eye on threads and will close them if the thread doesn't stay on topic (with the excepton of bein in the Open Mike thread), is breaking the rules of creating a thread, and other things that make WI a more enjoyable and safe place. Moderators have bold, blue names, and you can find them on the big list of active members on the forum page at the very bottom (they arn't that hard to miss ) Simply click on one of the moderators, and pm them and ask them why your thread wasclosed. But be sure to include what the name of your thread was and what section your thread was in!!
