to answer soccerdog...they close the thread when they know they have too many people in queue...they try to keep the GTE small, for several reasons: 1. It's a training ground, and needs to be smaller, to be easier and manageable, for everyone to learn. 2. They only have so many gift coaches to go around, and these people work on a volunteer basis, so they can only take so many trainees at a time.
It can take a few days or the better part of a month to be accepted, once you apply. Or you may not be accepted the first time, even if you meet the basic qualifications. But don't be discouraged. you can use the time to your advantage. Read the posts on the trading levels, etc. on the Rules and Suggestions site. Spend some time reading the WI GEV (Webkinz Insider Guide to Exchange Values) and become familiar with that. Look at the photos of items linked to that, so you can become familiar with all the "stuff" that can be traded. Spend time in WI, making posts, learning about WI and WW...anything you learn will help you in trading and in acquiring more stuff for trading. You can even make lists of items you have that are available for trade, and items you would like in trade. Once you get involved in the Training Exchange, you can sort out what you can offer and trade there, and what you must save till you graduate from the Training Gift Exchange.
Hope this helps--good luck!
