Default Re: How do take a picture?

How you can take a picture can vary from one laptop to another, depending on what operating system you are using (Windows XP, Vista, etc.). It also makes a difference if you want to take a picture of the whole screen, or only the active window.

With my laptop (an HP with Windows XP), if I want to copy the active window, I have to do it this way:
Hold the "fn" key ( to the left of the spacebar) and the "alt" (also located just to the left of the spacebar) together at the same time, then press the "insert/prt sc" key (usually located directly above the "backspace" key). Go to your start button and either open Paint, or MS Word, right click and select "paste". A copy of the active window should now be displaying on the screen. Clip it however you want.

Sometimes all you need to do is hold down the "fn" key, then the "insert/prt sc" key, then open Paint or MS Word, right click and select "paste" and clip or save. if you want.

Other times, hold "ctl" and "insert/prt sc", open Paint or MS Word, right click, "paste", save.

Still others are able to just hold the "shift" and "insert/prt sc" keys, followed by opening Paint or MS Word, right click "paste" and save.

Hope this helps.
