On Paint.NET, just use the wand tool to select the background, if it's white, then press delete and save the image as a PNG.

These websites can make images transparent.

Free Online Image Editor
LunaPic Online Photo Editor

For Paint.. I guess you can make something transparent pixel by pixel. I'm not so sure..

Sorry, I'm not much of a help! Good luck finding a better answer!

Quote:
An easy way to make a transparent gif is using the free Paint.Net (written entirely in .Net).

In the Tool section, use the "Magic Wand" feature.
Set it's tolerance to '0%'
Drag it over the section you want to make transparent. The magic wand catches an entire region of adjacent, same-color-range, pixels
Once the region is selected, then hit the delete key. [Updated 12/11/2007]

You can either:

a. Go to someone's shop in the Avatar and Signature section
b. Go to Lunapic.com

You can use Lunapic.

I'd be alright doing it for you, but you could use lunapic.com. Just go to edit and then 'Trandparency'. It's alright, but it's must better to just do something like that in a program, like I do.
