Hotlinking is when you use a picture from another website, and post it on a different website withOUT permission...that includes taking a screen shot of it, putting it on paint, saving it, and uploading it on tinypic. It isn't YOURS and it isn't made by YOU so it isn't allowed...the only things you should post are things that you made, or things that you have the permission to post... And it is still hotlinking even if you take a screen shot, paste it on paint, and change it up a little bit. Don't do it, it is against the computer laws! You can get in big trouble from it...

Be careful!

Hotlinking is when you go to a site and left click properties and get the picture URL and put it on another site like here. A lot of sites don't like that because you are using their bandwith. That's why there is sites like tinypic, photobucket, imageshack and etc.

http://altlab.com/hotlinking.html

Read that for the TRUE definition of hotlinking.

Okay, so I get what Lulu said. In the link she provided, it said putting it in IMG tags was an example. if I were to just post the link in the text, is that considered hotlinking. I don't think it would, because posting a link would not charge the site, but I just want to be sure.

I think you're fine if you just post the link.
