I don't know if I'm right, but to become a moderator, you must have been a WI member for at least 6 months, be willing to fulfill the responsibility of enforcing the rules of WI, and be at least 13 years of age.
Well, you have to be over the age of 18; THis means that you're an adult that can moderate forums.
I believe that you do have to be a member for at least 6 months, but I'm not sure.
If a moderator or administrator postition is open and they see someone who they believe could moderate this forum and is a responsable, helpful person, they watch over that person. This means they watch over you for a period of time and if they decide that you are ready, they will give you 'the tap', meaning they will ask you.
They do a background check on your just to make sure you have no criminal records and are a genuine person, but I'm not sure if they do that BEFORE or AFTER they offer the position. I'm sure it's before.
Hello S.O.S Star! I am fairly certain that moderators are handpicked. I do know that they have all had background checks to ensure everyone's safety and that they are all adults. The best thing that you can do is to continue what you already do by being an active member who is helpful and contributes to the forum. I do not know that statistics - as to how many or how often they nominate - but Good luck to you!
Hey there! Here is the answer to your question! It's been copied and pasted from the WI Forum!
Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other manipulations. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating. In order to be a moderator, you must be an adult. In addition, you have to be an active member of the community. The way we currently do it is, when a current moderator or administrator notices someone they think is a potential candidate, they are nominated and watched for a period of time. When everyone agrees, we give them "the tap" and offer them a position. They are not required to take it, it is up to them!
