My DD washes every pet she gets. She thinks they come from the store "dirty and germy" (no OCD there....LOL ). Anyway she just takes them in the shower or bath gently scrubs them with shampoo "pantene" and rubs them with a towel to dry. Recurls their hair while wet, and lets them air dry. When they are dry (usually 24 hours) , she then combs out the fur on the ones that need it, rubs the fur out with a towel, and sprays them with perfume.

"All clean now, Mommy!!!"

I hope this helps. We have had no problems, yet. But she is very gentle while washing them.

For example, many clothing items say "dry clean only" but are perfectly OK in a gentle wash.

I would be most careful about the "curly" fabrics such as the American Cocker Spaniel. Other soft furs can probably be brushed back to fullness, but they may lose some of their soft texture. It's up to you decide what matters more to you -- the softness or the cleanliness.

i completely agree with this post( i couldnt have said it better) as i stated a minute ago ive washed many a webkinz( in a non agitaing washer) as i have 2 small children that take their webkinz everywhere and theyve all come out clean, and soft good luck

I washed a horse once in the wahing machine and the mane will never be the same...it no longer has the flowing mane, just a matted clump of hair. I would not wash the ones with that kind of hair again. Let me just say that it was necessary though!

My gecko just recently came back from a hospital stay to brighten someone's day. When he returned home, we put him through the washing machine and let him air dry.

He's clean and happy to be home
