Default Unanswered: A GIF/GIMP question? :3

Ah yes, I am experimenting with GIFs again. I'll try and ask this in a way that makes sense. xD

I noticed in some GIFs that I didn't make that it will keep the same background, while there are extra smaller layers on top to make things move, like eyes for example. When I try to do this on GIMP, it replaces each layer with the other, so my background disappears and the smaller "moving parts" go one layer at a time. Can anyone explain how to keep my background in every frame?

I am terribly inexperienced with GIFs, so I'd love some advice.

Well... My explanation is not going to be what you were asking for...
I take pictures of the thing using the snipping tool on most newer computers. Then, I use Lunapic to make them animated with the slideshow option. I don't have GIMP, so I don't know how to do it using that! Sorry!

Well, I personally do it the long way-- saving it every time I change it.
