There is something I have been wondering for a long time, and I finally decided to ask. Who and what were the forum protectors?
I am NOT asking to bring the position back, I know that won't happen.
I just think that some info on them should be put out there. It will stop threads saying they should be brought back from being made, and it can help members like myself understand a little part of the history of WI.
So this is my question for all the "older" members...
Can you give us anyone info on them? Their jobs, who they were, etc?
Thanks, I have been curious for a long time
UPDATE - We now know that they were like younger staff members who were taken away when WI started following COPPA rules. Does anyone know any more info on them?

The title of "Forum Protector" is something we gave to members who were helpful on the site, but who were too young to become full staff members. It's a title that was only around in the early days of WI.
Then, we started requiring that all staff members submit themselves to a background check. This meant that we had to collect identifying information such as birth date, address, etc. Since we couldn't ask under-age members for this information, we had to remove them from the staff.
All staff members on WI are at least 18 years of age.
The only thing I've heard is that they were kids who were Staff members and I guess they had the same rights as Mods...
Then WI started following those rules (I forget what they're called ) and they required all staff members to be background checked and to get background checked, they had to be at least 18 years old- so that was the end of 'em...
The FP's were just like mods but I don't think they had any mod privileges like editing posts and stuff. They just tried to make sure everyone was following the rules and stuff like that. After they were allowed to be FP's anymore a lot of them left and never came back. Some of the oldest members might remember who they were.
Yes, that's right.
They were children (not too young, but under the age of 1 that had close to, if not all of, the same rights as moderators. They had those purple bars, and because of that, I am assuming they had purple names. WI realized it was against the COPPA laws, and the FPs weren't allowed anymore.
