Default Answered: Flagging a post?

Hey all,

I have a question about flagging posts,

When we flag a post what exactly happens? Does it get people in trouble? Is it okay to flag our own posts to alert mods and admin to updates?

thanks

Yes you can flag your own post. The flag is for getting the attention of a mod or admin quickly, not just for reporting rules broken.

If a post is against the rules, that person might get in trouble- it just depends on how bad what they did was.

You can flag a post if it's against the rules, if you want a staff member to view it, or if you want that thread reopened.

If you flag a post that a staff member feels is fine, the person that made it will NOT get in trouble

When a post is flagged, admins and mods are sent a PM and/or email. The PM/email will contain the message you write when you flag a post, your username, and a link to the post you flagged. They will decide what to do about the flagged post when they click the link to check up on whatever it was you wrote about it.

As for flagging a post to let them know of updates, that depends on what you mean. If it's something important that you think should be front page news, then yes, you should flag it (even your own). If you're updating your thread and want them to know "just because" I'd say no. You can PM them or leave a message on their profile if you'd just like to be friendly and let them know about your thread.
