Default Unanswered: Designing Avatars

I have been trying to design my own avatar, and can't figure out how to do it. As you can see I tried to get a picture from one of my pets on the paint program after print screen and pasting, but it looks so tiny. Please help, how can I make it bigger? I tried resizing the picture but it looks so ugly.

Thanks in advance

When in Paint, you have to crop the picture.

Select the box with the dashed lines tool, use your mouse to put it around your picture, and right-click "Crop". Then save it and upload it as your avatar.

Exactly what dotdotduck said, you have to make sure to crop the pic down.

Exactley. But the best way is to do what dotdotduck had said, and after you cropped it, "copy" the cropped picture. Exit paint, do not save. Open paint again, click "edit>paste". The cropped image should come up. If you have any white stuff around the image, just click the corners/sides of the extra white space in paint and make it so all you is the picture.
Good luck!

Thank you all for the suggestions but that is exactly what I did, but I'm wondering how big should I make the picture after cropping and pasting on a new page. because I thought I had made it big enough but you can barely see it in the corner.

I am not terrific with this IT stuff, but here is how I have done avatars. After you have cropped your pic, then save it as a bitmap image. I do not think you need to resize it then. Then you can upload that. I just did a new avatar this morning and I cropped it to the same size as I would to import a picture into the forum. When I imported it into my avatar it was the size you see here.

Once you have placed your cropped picture onto the new paint screen, make sure the bottom slide bar is to the far left and the right hand slide bar is all the way up.
Then in the bottom right corner, where bottom scroll bar connects with the right hand bar, point your curser until a double ended arrow appears. Use that arrow to move the corner up and left.
This action will remove all that white area and turn it grey colored. By doing this your picture will become the focus and appear larger.
Now save to your computer.

Feel free to contact me if you need more help.

Ok, for this, go to Paint, open up the avatar picture you were working on, and go to the botton right corner. Drag it up and left until you get to the picture, and then let go of the mouse. It should be a roght size for an avatar. Now save, what I do is always is save it as a jpeg file. I hope I helped!

For this, you don't want it big, you want to crop and save it as the right size for an avatar!
