Yup! It sort of is an abbreviation guide.
Some members were having trouble reading our chat speak, such as DD, DS, DH.. things like that, so they added that and all you'd have to do is scroll over it and you'd know what it means.
When you type in DS, it becomes underlined and it says, "darling son" when you scroll over it.
What is this? An abbreviation for parents?
Is DD "darling daughter"?
I knew what they meant, but always saw it as a reference to 'dear' instead of 'darling' but didn't know that happened in here when you scrolled over them You learn something new everyday! But the text/email/web abbreviations still confuse me sometimes- I do not talk that way so I'm not used to reading that way!
But here are the ones I have seen: DS (darling or dear son), DD (darling or dear daughter), DH (darling or dear husband), DW (darling or dear wife), DH2B (dear or darling husband to be) - the same with a w instead of an h for wife), DSS (darling or dear step-son), DSD (darling or dear step-daughter) and then you have those two with the '2B'
As much as I have dug my nails in and have had to be pulled into the modern era I still am not convinced that Text speak is a good thing. However, I have pick up some anyway and on occasion will use it, but it makes me wonder what will happen to formal writing in the future. But if we are hoping for a short cut to Darling Mom I for one think that Mom deserves more than just a darling... there is wonderful, she who can do almost anything, and that is just to name a couple.... here's to all of those great Moms out there.
