I have bought one Webkinz from E-bay. Everything went great! The pet was in a plastic bag, new, and had a working code. Just make sure they 100% good rep. I would also go with the one with the most times selling things on E-bay. (Like how we have how many Giftz someone has done) Even if it's a dollar more I would go with the person that has done 28 sales with 100% then the one with 1.

I have bought many Webkinz on Ebay and (knock wood) have not had any problems so far. I agree with what's been said--make sure the Rep points for the seller are high, and that the tag is unused and included--some people just sell plushies without the tag.

Also, pay attention to the shipping price. A lot of people ship for free, but you can get caught paying $6.00 in shipping, and that runs the price up quickly. So make sure you know what the shipping costs are before you bid.

I am reluctant to bid on auctions for just the tag--I cannot imagine why someone would spend the money for a Webkinz and sell the tag--I'm always afraid that it's a stolen tag and I don't want to reward that.

My local Hallmark store cuts off the tags before they put the Webkinz out--you get the tag when you buy the Webkinz. That's just sad.

Good luck!

I have lots of experience with ebay! All good!! Read the sellers feedback . These are comments made from their buyers. Make sure they are showing an actual picture of the item you are interested on bidding on. I don't trust always trust a stock photo....this would be a very small picture and usually says stock photo. Pictures are free to the seller so there is no reason for a seller not to put a picture of the real thing. If you're in doubt always ask the seller any questions you may have before you bid. Most sellers prefer you do and are more than happy to answer your questions. I have bought just the webkinz code from ebay before...the seller just emailed me the code. I had no problems with it.

I have more plush than I want so I have often bought just the tag on ebay. Often a seller will sell the tag by itself and then sell the plush by itself or sometimes they donate the plush to a charity. I have had trouble with a tag only once and that was an extravaganza pig that I bought yesterday. The code did not work and the seller said she had given me the right one, but that a lot of people had trouble with the pigs. Ganz must have miscoded a lot of them. She gave me the code from a regular pig and I was happy. I am sure none of the people I have bought from stole the tags.

You are getting good advice to watch the shipping price. Also watch how you have to pay. Paypal is the safest way because that gives you another recourse in case you have problems.

[QUOTE]

There is a local store by me that does the same thing, you get the tag after you purchased the webkinz. I have also seen several stores by me selling just the plushy, when I asked why they were they said those are the ones that people stole the tags off. JCPenney had 7 pets for $3.99, no tags. Man! People can be so lousy sometimes

One time I had a bad experience with a seller who "pre-sold" me a not-yet-released pet. I never did get it shipped, even though he emailed me that he was finally getting it. It was a hassle and I would not "pre-buy" anything, except from a seller with whom I had numberous dealings before. I saw later that seller was no longer an Ebay seller, so don't worry; he's gone now. But it shows you, bad apples can be in the barrel. Most are great--some are rated power sellers and you will see them handling a lot of Ebay Webkinz sales. I've dealt with a dozen of those types very satisfactorily. They sell as promised.

Oh, did have one other issue. Did buy some mouse pads for Xmas gifts that were not well packaged and came damaged, but the seller offered to refund my money. I told her just refund half, as they weren't totally worthless, just not in first quality anymore. Then I bid on another auction from that seller and found she had banned me! And I though I was so reasonable and polite about the whole thing! She had packaged the items just wrapped in brown paper sacks, so they were damaged by post office equipment!

I have bought many pets from ebay, and I have also given out my WW ID. I have never had any problems with my account being hacked. If the tags are closed, you are safe, but don't activate a pet on your primary account if it looks opened. If you see something like that, make a new account for that pet.

I am like marnabear, I have purchased just the tags and they have always e-mailed me the code immediately, but I do check how many transactions they have had and how they are rated! I have purchased from ebay and ****** and had no problems whatsoever, in fact I just purchased three caring valley pets from an e-bay seller and she was super nice and sent me the codes right away, because I couldn't wait to get them and she's mailing the pets! I think it's a great place to get them. You can get retired pets even. I also couldn't find caring valley or kinzclips here, so getting them there or ****** was my only option. I really think you are fine. There are a lot of safety nets in place on those sites and with paypal!!!!!
