Default Answered: Avatar is not to big!

When I try 3 avvies to use it won't allow me. It says that the JPEG is too big for the limits, but it's not to big, it's not JPEG
My avvies are all GIF's and about 5 KG, so what's wrong

funky is right. If it is animated, the file size might be too big. Cocoabean has a great resizing shop for animated avvies and siggies (animated only). You can find it here.

Other than that, when you are saving a still picture, choose Save As, and choose the jpg file extension. This format compresses the image and makes the file size smaller. You can also choose the amount of compression by clicking on options once you have selected jpg. The higher the number, the more the file will be compressed. You wouldn't want to do this for photos or things you want to print out because it is a "loss" kind of file type - in other words, the computer decides which pixels you don't need and kind of tosses that "unneeded info" away. In other words, the image quality may suffer if compressed too much. Bit like I said, for something small like an avvie or siggie, it is a good way to go.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, that's happened to me before too. It may be over the other size limit of 125 x 125 pixels. The rule says "The maximum size of your custom image is 125 by 125 pixels or 48.8 KB (whichever is smaller)." So it may be that the dimensions are too big--maybe you could try shrinking it? Good luck!

How big is it? It may be the correct file size but the length and width might not. If it is too big, a Loy of ships can cut it down for you.

It may be too big. If you want to use that avatar you could get it resized. Some of our WI friends know and can do so. Just ask them to solve your problem.
Hope I helped,

If it is animated it could be over the pixel size. You can check the pixels and dimensions by putting your mouse over it while browsing your pictures.

Default Re: Avatar is not to big!

The file sizes for all of them are 100x100 and it's not too big as I got them from other WI members, and they can use it. So I don't get it

Okay I have Microsoft Office Picture Manager so I can edit pictures. I turned them all to JPEG so let's see if it works

It worked!!! I guess it didn't read GIF
Thanks everyone for their help
