Side note - I think the tag switching has started to become a pretty big problem... I was at a Hallmark I have been going to for quite some time now last week and I noticed none of the pets had adoption codes... I was a little confused or worried Ganz had forgot to attach them before shipping! Then the clerk let me know that they keep the tags behind the counter now because "missing" tags had become a problem. Here's the thing though... if I was buying as a gift for someone, I'd still want the tag attached -- so I'm not quite sure this is the best solution. I would think keeping them behind the counter would have been a better idea. just my thoughts though..
YIKES!

I don't see how that is really helping anyone. Seems like just keeping them closer to the checkout would be the better answer. This way sure doesn't provide secure codes either.
Honestly, I would not buy one from that store!
I would be tempted to report that retailer to Ganz - can they even DO that, removing all the tags first? It just doesn't sound right!
And I agree with you - I wouldn't want to give a Webbie as a gift to someone with the tags already removed. It looks like you used it first or bought it second-hand!

Shame on that store too!
It is a growing problem, but surely not one that deserves cutting off the new tags....

I don't know if it's allowed or not... it sure was weird seeing shelves of Webbies (new & old) without their blue tags!! I was definitely confused at first.

I probably won't report them to Ganz ... I mean it takes long enough as it is to get my *own* problems resolved when I send customer service an email .. I'd rather Ganz focus on fixing our problems rather than cracking down on retailers. I'm sure when sales slow down at that store (because I'm sure alot of people are like us and won't want to purchase them with their tags cut off) they'll change things on their own.

Uh-oh! Go to customer support and get their GANZ address and mail them a letter with the code so they can fix the code so you can adopt your pet. Then they'll ban whoever cheated a code in. I'm sorry this happened! I had to do this wish a pack of trading cards that had codes that were scratched. When I got a response I got a free pack of trading cards with a card that had a free monkey on it.
