Default Unanswered: Adoption problem - code already used??

Well, this is the first time we've had this problem among our 3 accounts.

I bought three webkinz from the same online retailer.
Two of them were fine.

I went to enter our Charcoal Cat code today, and get an error message
telling me that the code has already been used. What???

I try again, same thing. So, I check on the tag (which I cut off the leg
myself), and the tag says TIGER on the back!!

Not sure how someone did it, but they must have switched out codes on the actual
pet, retying the ribbon on the leg? Weird!

I have tried two diff ways to contact Ganz (not that they'll say anything but "bummer").

1. I tried to email them via the email listed here in WI. I got back the following email:
This is an automatic response to let you know that Webkinz World has NOT received your information.

In order for us to properly address your issue, please go to www.webkinz.com and click on the 'Customer Service' link, located below the 'Log In' button.
Once you find your specific question, please fill out the corresponding form and send us your request.

Please Note: If you do not have a specific question you can fill out a form called, 'Our question does not appear above' located under the 'comments and suggestions' link on the Customer Service page.

So apparently, the email is no longer valid.
okay, fine. I go to #2 -


2. Use the Customer Service form.
One of the choices is "have you been told that your secret code has already been used".
That is the one I chose. I entered all the information, and now I am getting error messages from Ganz telling me that "YOUR ACCOUNT VERIFICATION INFORMATION DOES NOT MATCH OUR RECORDS".

Yes it does! I verified everything.
Then I thought that maybe they wanted the code of something already IN my account, rather than the one I was having trouble with, so I tried that. Same error message.

What the heck?
What can I do now? (I already emailed the seller, but don't anticipate much of a response from them either.)

Thanks for anyone's help on this one.

It sounds like they aren't taking emails anymore and we all know how they IGNORE stuf said in the comment section so don't waste your time on that- IMO.
I don't know why the customer service form isn't working but so many things aren't working on their site that it doesn't surprise me.
Personally I think you should contact the retailer. Ganz isn't going to do a thing about this for you. You got someone who changed the tag out and it was obviously already used. you need to handle this with the person you bought it from is my guess.

I would try CALLING Ganz. that might be better then email. As long as you are over eighteen and if not, have a parent call for you. I hope this helps! good luck!

Call Ganz, though they won't do much about it, one thing I did was in the customer support area, but I don't think it would work for you as the type of pet on the tag was different than the stuffy.

Definitely over 18 here! ; )

I am going to wait and see what the person I bought it from has to say.
It probably isn't their fault. I would guess they have a retail store, and selling
Webkinz online as well.

Just disgusting that there is nothing anymore that someone won't try to cheat on...

On the tag thing in customer service area.

I tried it four diff ways.... there is a section that asks for the pet code and type.
I tried the charcoal cat/used number combo. Not valid.
Tried the used code/tiger combo. Not valid.
Tried two diff pets I already had on the account that were fine - not valid.

So, their customer service form is broken too.

If they don't get their act together, the fun of Webkinz is going to dry up very rapidly!

omj thats bad! I just went to a hallmark with the webkinz right next to the check counter and people looking over at them every few minutes.

sorry about your charcol cat...

Call ganz and the retailer. hopefully they do something about it...

Well, that is an interesting story. My advice for the future: don't buy from that retailer ever again. My sister typed in random codes in the adoption center and got a free elephant- boy, was I mad!

Hmm. I don't know what I would do. GANZ surely won't do anything about it.

I've heard stories about people contacting ganz and getting the problem fixed. Some peope... I just cant STAND it!

Hi everyone -
thanks for all your help and suggestions!

Obviously, contacting Ganz is becoming more and more impossible, as well as
pointless.

However, I am very happy to report that the online seller I bought it from is going to step up to the plate and replace our cat! I was not sure I'd hear back, but she is offering to take care of it for us upon return of the other cat and tag.

Someone entering random codes could definitely be a problem. (In this case, we had a whole different tag.) But, I was happily surprised to hear back and find out that they'll send out a replacement when I return the other cat. She said that she will let Ganz know about the problem.
Eventual happy ending! (Now if only the site was working better...)

I'm *so glad* to see that this worked out for you and that the online retailer is going to replace it... that is such good news!!

Side note - I think the tag switching has started to become a pretty big problem... I was at a Hallmark I have been going to for quite some time now last week and I noticed none of the pets had adoption codes... I was a little confused or worried Ganz had forgot to attach them before shipping! Then the clerk let me know that they keep the tags behind the counter now because "missing" tags had become a problem. Here's the thing though... if I was buying as a gift for someone, I'd still want the tag attached -- so I'm not quite sure this is the best solution. I would think keeping them behind the counter would have been a better idea. just my thoughts though..
