Default Answered: ad block

I see so many talking about ad block. What is it and how do I get it? And is it worth having? Is it different from pop-up blocker? What causes webkinz games to be so jerky and not run smoothly?
I cannot play Bullseye Batter because it is so jerky and I need it for a challenge. Rebooted the Computer, the Router, cleared cache and changed Browser. FFox was worse than Google Chrome.
Any suggestions? And it is all the games jerking or momentarily stopping,

Thanks,

chicken little

It may help run things smoother. Adblock used to block absolutely every ad in Webkinz, but they recently changed something so that now it still shows Webkinz ads. They are not animated, however, so that should help. You may get a brief flicker as the ads change, but that's about it.

I find Chrome runs Webkinz best on my older computer; on the newer one the browser doesn't make much difference. To get Adblock on Chrome, go to those three little bars in the top right corner and click. From the drop down select More Tools, then Extensions. When you're there, at the bottom it will say "Get More Extensions" , which will take you to the Chrome Webstore. There are a few different versions of Adblock; chose the one you want, and it will install in just a few seconds. Once installed, you'll see a little red stop sign logo in the top right corner of your browser. Click on it to enable/disable or select whatever options you want.

Default Re: ad block

This might be a bit off topic, but I never use Chrome. I run several stand alone, and paid for programs that detect malware, spyware, and of course, an anti-virus program. Every time I used Chrome in the past, my spyware program detected tracking cookies that can't be removed by the normal method of deleting cookies and cache.

And none of my browsers will block the Webkinz ads even with AdBlock + since the last update. But, as mentioned, AdBlock will still block the non-webkinz ads. So it really hasn't slowed down Webkinz for any of our accounts.

Just mentioning to the rest of you that Chrome is much more likely to place tracking cookies on your computer than any other browser. The kind that can't be removed unless you're running another program to detect and remove them.
