[SOLVED] I need some help please ;)

Ok;;

With the new addition of the "permalink"
I have not figured out how to get the link to a post.

Could somebody maybe help me and explain it to me.
Please and thank you (:

Hiya Cheesecakie :)
I think it is pretty straight forward, if you press the "permalink" button in the top right of the post you want to link, you'll notice that the URL (where you type in a wed address) has changed to say /#post*NUMBERHERE* - if you copy that whole link, it will directly link you to the post.

For example, I used post #12 in the sticky "ATTENTION: before you post here" by smitchell. - Link: http://www.webkinzinsider.com/forum/...l#post12706774

Thanks a bunch MissGnomie :)

I wasn't sure how to use permalink either!

I saw the permalink button... but was too scaredy-cat to press it. LOL So thanks for asking the question, and thanks for the answers. :-)

I'm sorry, but I'm another one who doesn't get the permalink. It used to be that when you clicked on the post #, you got directed to the single post. If you copied that url, you could post a link to the single post. Now with the permalink, you have a link to the entire page. Can't we link to a single post any more? Please help me?

I believe that is how it works now too. Personally I liked the old way alot more. All the one post links are now broken. For instance my 5 star speech link doesn't work anymore in my siggie. I can change it but I liked how when it linked to the speech you could only see the speech without all my other GE nonsense. I wonder why it had to be changed.

As far as I know, I think the direct link to the post number is either not available anymore due to V-bulletin updates or has been disabled, maybe even just a mistake. :)

What I do know, is if you use the perma-link it will link the entire page (which is nice, you can read it in context) but moves your browser window down so the post is the "focus". It may not link the post on it's own, but I kind of prefer that, written words are sometimes hard enough to understand and when we read something out of context it can take on a whole different meaning. :) But I understand where you are coming from.

Thanks MissGnomie. So it is the way the new feature works. I wondered if I was doing something wrong. In my Tree Ornament Guide, I had 4 links to single posts, and now I notice that they are broken. I've found some of the posts and redone the links, but I haven't found them all. (sigh)

Top poster? you can easily view that by clicking on the number of posts when viewing multiple topics.

For example: If I was viewing "somebody help!" and wanted to see the top posting count for this thread (I need some help please ;)) I would just press the "8" next to the last poster date. :)

Let me know if that makes sense, I can always take a picture and show you. :thumbup:
