Polar Plunge - Guide to Course 3 - Polar Plummet with Images & Tips on the New Course
This guide is dedicated to Course 3 "Polar Plummet".
This course is the only one we know that is awarding trophies (randomly) April 6th: wistcottage & family have made it through Course 2 with a trophy.
April 8th: Mr. Commodore has earned a trophy on Course 2.
Some points to note about this game:
Average duration to complete the course is approximately 4 and a half minutes
The faster the speed, the more Points are awarded (but we can't conclude if this affects your trophy chances)
Snowflakes (pink and purple and lilac) were newly introduced to this course and is still a mystery as to what they do to affect the course or trophy odds
Some pine trees "shift" slightly from game to game - please see the photos below
At approximately the 7,200 Points mark the two trees vary in distance from game to game ~ be careful!
This course is the only Polar Plunge course in the Tournament Area
We welcome any comments or tips to add to this, especially if you watch our videos and notice anything that we've missed.
Polar Plunge Trophy This trophy is randomly awarded when you cross the finish line. (See stats at the bottom)
Trophy Win After Crossing the Finish Line:
My trophy winning 3 videos are on YouTube.
No Trophy Win After Crossing the Finish Line:
I have 1 video of non trophy awarded game on You Tube.
Update on 14 Feb @ 5am EST Snowflakes
• There are 3 colours or 4 types
• Pink
• Lilac
• Purple
• The Purple ones have two patterns
• After analysing some footage there is a small boost of 12 - 30 points. But Kodiak and I are still not convinced that these snowflakes alone will give you extra points. Snowflakes are definitely not giving extra KC, or prizes.
Hazards
Trees and Tree Stumps
• There are 4 types of Trees and 3 types of Tree Stumps
• If you hit any one of these objects, it's game over
Snowmen
• There are 3 different variations
• If you run into these instead of jumping them, they'll slow you down
• But be careful, if your Speed reaches 0, it is game over
Igloo
• If you slip on this, it is game over
Ramps
• There are 2 different angled Ramps
• This will give you that extra boost to jump higher
Bumps
• There are 3 sizes of Bumps
• This can help you jump higher, but they are tricky to negotiate and cause you to lose your balance if you jump at the wrong place if you are on a big stretch of bumps
Update on 16 Feb @ 2am EST "Tree Shifts" Photos
1st Tree Shift (Approx. 100 score mark) 16 Feb @ 3:55pm EST - added another tree shift position
2nd Tree Shift (Approx. 320 score mark)
3rd Tree Shift (Approx. 1100 score mark)
4th Tree Shift (Approx. 4200 score mark)
The "Two Pine Trees" Trouble- 5th Tree Shift (Approx. 7200 score mark)
My tip here is to avoid crashing into the snowman just before the two pine trees after the bumpy slope and go slowly until you see the trees.
When you approach the two pine trees and they look like the first two photos, you must go faster and make one jump to clear. Otherwise you must make two jumps, by jumping in between the trees. You may be required to use the left arrow to avoid touching trees.
Here are some photos of the same part of the course (Course 3).
#1 Score 7192 (No Video) shows the two pines at the closest we've seen/closest possible. This will be easily accomplished by one jump!
#2 Score 7136 (No Video) shows the two pine trees very close together, and this can be accomplished by one jump relatively easily.
#3 Score 7332 (With Trophy Game taken from the video we posted) shows the trees where it was just possible to take 2 hurdles to accomplish (this so far is the narrowest distance possible to take 2 jumps). This requires braking to jump.
#4 Score 7313 (No Trophy Game taken from the video we posted) shows the trees where it was possible to take 2 hurdles to accomplish (this so far is the widest distance we've seen).
Tree Shifting Range
After analyzing several videos, I came to the conclusion that there are no patterns to predict the 5th tree shift location/distance from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th tree shifts.
Three igloos at 7900
The last jump is very important for the approach the next Tricky Igloos cliff.
The Tricky Igloos at approx. 8200 This image was stitched up from several images in a video to illustrate the trickiest cliff down-climb (after the Two Pine Trees aka 7000 Mark).
I would recommend landing within that red line I marked. Then just press the up arrow until you pass the 2nd igloo.
Crossing The Finish Line This image was stitched up from three images in a video to illustrate the last 3 jumps to cross the finish line.
Take it at Normal speed here.
Just Missed ...
I have missed the finish line like this, 5 times now. Be careful. It is a very disappointing end.
Reaching the Finish Line, Scores and KC: Here are my husbands final score results when crossing the finish line on successful runs.
What we have found in common is the score range between 9068 - 9710 Points at the finish line awards you 36 - 38KC for the trophy awarded games.
Please click on each individual score to view the photo corresponding to the win.
Your score does not determine your odds to win a game
We have been keeping stats on our own line finishes and we cannot see any relation to score to earn a trophy
Even the exact same score may result in a trophy and may not result in a trophy, in played consequtively
Some useful stats on Trophy Wins on this New Course: (Please feel free to contribute to this, if we can obtain more info. we can work out the odds for this game)

Congratulations on the trophy! It would be great if your husband would be willing to keep track of how frequently he is able to win a trophy in the game. In other words, how many trophies has he won in how many successful trips down the mountain. I am hoping to get some good intelligence on the odds of winning. My ratio is 3:16 right now -- not too good.
Also, if you or he win a trophy on one of the other courses, please speak up. I'm not aware of anyone doing it yet.

Thank you, and congratulations to you to.b
At the moment the stats are a trophy win on the 3rd game. It was luck really that he got a trophy on the 3rd game. I'll keep you updated as this changes. Very happy to work with you to build some sort of record.
I will definitely let you know on the other two courses.

You're most welcome. My husband rates this is the toughest game on WW now (Candy Bash1 and Zacky's Quest is nothing compared to this). Only on Sunday afternoon, he was crashing around the same marker as you, so do keep practicing, you'll get there! The factors of skill and luck determine the conclusion of this game. Hopefully the video helps by providing a little insight of the end of the course, and any subsequent successful runs we'll upload.

Hi Vince,
You're welcome, make the most of the video - just remember the trees at 7,000 "move" a little, you have a split second to decide whether you take a huge leap to jump them both (if they are too far apart you can't make it, or if there is just enough space, take 2 jumps to get over ... a 50/50 gamble).

Thank you for the information on the low scores. I do have a question after the two trees and the series of 3 ramps with igloos and the snowman you jump off the cliff. That is the furthest I have gotten and I seem to hit the second igloo on a ledge going down. Right now consistently getting to that point is an obstacle but I'm not sure what to do when I first jump off.

Hi Elektra,
At that point you describe, that is the biggest hurdle to accomplish, it is very tricky indeed.
My suggestion is to accelerate to the max. and jump, then you should land on the cliff edge (if you weren't speedy enough you'll land on the igloo), and the speed that you gathered before your first jump helps you with your second jump (the speed meter goes to about half even though you crashed into the snowman before the second igloo), and then you should be able to continue.
Otherwise, it is impossible to jump over the second igloo because there is no time to accelerate from 0.
When you get to the three pine trees just before the finish line, be careful not to rush this, just take it at normal speed.
