If you’re watching the Olympic games, you’re in great company. Mary Poppins is also watching! And so is Voldemort from Harry Potter! Friday’s show included many actors and actresses in the roles of some of the most beloved literary characters. Also present were Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Captain Hook from Peter Pan, and Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians.
The Spice Girls reunited for the first time since 2008 to sing together at the Olympics.
Royalty also attended in the person of Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry. Watch for them during the tennis matches!
If you’re eyeing the medals, you should know that an Olympic Gold medal contains only 1.34% gold. However, this is enough to make the medal be worth $650. A silver medal is worth $335 (and yet it is 93% silver) and a bronze medal (ironically mostly copper)... only $5.
The fashionistas will want to know that the Team USA uniforms for the opening and closing ceremonies are designed by Ralph Lauren. The Italian athletes will be wearing Giorgio Armani. In fact, the closing ceremonies will include a fashion show featuring Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Lily Donaldson on the runway.
Fans of One Direction will surely tune in to those closing ceremonies! There will be a 2-hour concert featuring One Direction, Jessie J, The Who, Russell Brand, Annie Lennox, Ray Davies, Kaiser Chiefs, and more.
