I wouldn't, personally. I played with it at a Best Buy for a couple minutes, and it killed my eyes.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. And i know it says that for 7 and under it causes eye damage but really if it damages eyes for 7 and under then there is still a possibility that it can ruin any kind of eyes weather a 5 year old or a 90 year old but that is just another opinion of mine. I understand that some of you or some of your friends have the 3DS but i was just warning you because of the recall. Just wanted to hear your opinion and warn you that if you have one it is possible that it could damage you eyes and not just that it gives people migraines and headaches and the doctors are now asking if you have one if you are in doctor's office because of the pain or the eye sight. They will tell you to either cut down on the time playing it or to play everything in 2D because of the damages. I really want the 3DS because of the new animal crossing game they are coming out with for it because i am a animal crossing freak lol. : D
but sadly i can't get it until i save up money from chores and wait for them to fix the problems before i go and by something that could effect my health. : D

Thanks for all the feedback! Please keep coming with the opinions and other additional comments.
Thanks again,

Lizzy411

I know that is exactly what i mean who wants to suffer health issues just to have a gaming system that they want. I am just gonna wait patiently for the problems to be fixed and wait a little after that to make sure they really fixed them and ruin something else on the 3DS and thanks for all the opinions on my thread! Didn't think it would be such a hit in just 24hrs. lol! Keep the comments and opinions coming!

Thanks,

Heck, I'm not an expert on ophthalmology, but I'm pretty sure that an adult's body is different from a child's body. A child's body is much more fragile than, say, an adult’s because it’s still developing. Isn't that what the slider is for, anyway? You can adjust how much 3D you want. Some can have it on the highest level and not have any complaints, while others have to adjust it to a lower level.

Are you talking about this?:
Spoiler: show

Nintendo issues a recall on the 3DS – Updated!

The Nintendo 3DS has been available for retail in the west for only a week, and already Nintendo is issuing a recall of the handheld. Nintendo has apparently received hundreds of thousands of complaints ranging from nausea and dizziness, to seizures and in some cases, sudden onset death. Coupled with recently reported hardware errors causing permanent system lock-ups, Nintendo has deemed it prudent to recall the device in Europe and the USA.

The reported maladies are a result, according to one source, of too much awesomeness being beamed directly in to the brain. The Nintendo 3DS has been available in Japan for over a month without the same reported issues, but researches now believe the Asians’ somewhat slanted eyes aid in blocking out a great deal of the expelled multi-dimensioned awesome. When asked for comment, Nintendo representative Shigatsu Baka said “We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate recall, but equally lament the fact that our physical characteristics deny us a measure of the brain-melting magnificence of the 3DS.

There’s been no word on any such recall locally, but we’ll keep you updated should we hear anything.

[Update] Yes, this was a silly April Fool’s joke, as anybody who read it would know. We sincerely apologise for any mass hysteria caused to and by those who only read headlines. Thanks for the giggles though.

Anyway, I thought most complaints were about people getting a BSOD. /shrugs

I have a DS Lite, and it works perfectly fine. I don't need any 3d for mine. Besides, 3d things hurt my eyes anyways. But thank you for the warning! (:

The 3DS isn't ONLY in 3D. You can turn the 3D off at any time. My friend has a 3DS and she NEVER plays with the 3D on. EVER. Her eyes aren't damaged....

Anyways, this is mostly just for people who are under 7, or have their 3D on high for multiple hours.

That is why you should leave 3D on for like, 10 minutes or so and then give your eyes a break by turning it off! You can always turn the 3D back on later.

That's why the other 3D systems that people have released over the years have failed. Because people won't give their eyes a break and just stare at the game / movie for hours... and hours... and hours... and damage their eyes! It's also the same with the computer.

I'm, unfortunately, a person who has been on the computer for about 24 hours and have had my eyes sore because of it. But now I have self control and know when to turn off my computer when my eyes begin to burn and stuff. It's the same with the 3DS.
