Default Motivation

heyyy everyone. What are your tips to keep you motivated to do tasks that you dont want to do?
thought we could open a thread about this...the main reason? um well i cannot concentrate on homework and getting very frustrated because i am having a hard time actually doing it (and making progress)

yeah leave your tips below

mine would be : if you are up tight // too much going on in the brain, take a quick nap, walk, cleaning (Cleaning dishes, counters, toilet, ...ect) to help burn off some of the energy. napping helps because letting myself to chill for 20-1 hour helps calm my thoughts down and then i will be able to focus on the task at hand

also listening to classical // study music has helped me a lot. things with out words is a big thing, so you wont sing along. spotify and youtube has some amazing stuff (there are albums of classical music on YT)

I agree with you about playing music. That always helps with me.

Also, for me it helps if I can work together with someone else. We keep each other motivated.

And it always helps me if there is some kind of reward at the end of the job. Even it's just something small, it's nice to have something to look forward to after the job is done.

Idk tbh. Some days I just have the sudden urge to clean/do the task(s) I don't want to do. Because depending on what those tasks are, you just get over seeing the mess (or whatever it is) & you just do it. I get sudden random bursts of energy too so that helps .

heh, for me it is kind of a bad idea to work with someone, we get too distracted from other things, lololol.
it is kind of hard when the reward is "satisfaction" or "a degree in...." that reward will happen in a couple years not today

lol i know when i personally isnt feeling too good i clean to make myself feel better. also because i get tired of the mess

I learned that it's best to complete a task immediately if it will take you less than 5 minutes to do so that minor things won't be in the back of your mind (eg. putting away your clothes)

Generally speaking, just doing things at a moderate pace will help you soooo much better in the long term. I used to procrastinate assignments until the last minute which caused lots of stress but once I started to spread out my work, it was much easier on me and my mental/physical health. so basically my motivation is to think about how I would feel in the future lol
