Default A Little Help Please?

As some of you already know, my cat Rudy recently died. However, my mom got me a dog as an early Christmas gift last week! He is a 4-month old Papillon named Rascal with loads of energy!!! However, I am having trouble on getting him to walk on a leash. I've looked on many websites, but all they talk about is how to get a dog to stop running ahead of you. Rascal actually refuses to go outside!!! I have a feeling he thinks we're taking him back to the pet store when we're just taking him for a walk, but I could be wrong... Any tips on getting him to move?

-Thanks,
Omnitrix

PS- Tips on getting Rascal to stop biting toes would be appreciated as well!!! He is a Rascal after all LOL

PSS- I could post a pic sometime this week if you'd like! He is ADORABLE!!!

Default Re: A Little Help Please?

We taught our dogs to walk by taking them to the same place (a field) every day until they learned it was a fun place to go. Then, they wanted to go whenever we got out the leash. If your dog jumps and pulls a lot, stop when it does that and say no, in a stern, abrupt voice. Give lots of praise when they are walking correctly. when you get back from the walk, give your dog a treat and lots more praise. It just takes a little time.
