I walked home from school. Today had been the WORST day of my life. Here's what happened:
I walked to my first class, History. I sat to my best friend, Chloe. We passed notes during class until class was over. We both knew each others secrets and Crushes. She didn't like any boys, but I liked a kid named Tyler. We walked to our lockers. "I'll see you at lunch!" Chloe said, as she walked to her next class. "Bye!" I said back.
Tyler came over to my table today. He NEVER sits at this table. I thought. "So..." He started. "You have liked me sence 6th grade." I turned a bright red. "W-who told you that?" I stammered. "Chloe." He walked off. I walked over to Chloe. "What - Why did you tell him?" I asked. "Why should I tell you?!" She snapped at me. "Because, we have been friends for...." I thought for a moment. "Since 3rd grade!" She looked me in the eye. "Well, now our friend ship is OVER!" She shouted. She grabbed her friend ship necklace and threw it to the ground. I ran to my locker, Tears running down my cheek.
~At my locker~
I stood there for a while, Thinking, What did I do to her? Or is it just the end? I thought to myself.I couldn't believe it..... how could she do something such as that? I walked to my next class. The rest of the day went by fast.
My best friend, Alexandra, I like to call her Alex, and I walked to the local clothing store. We were called in for an interview. As soon as we stepped in the store’s brand name perfume floated around. “Mmmmm,” I muttered. To our left were t-shirts, tank tops, jeans, and shorts of every kind, neatly hung and folded. Alex jumped to our right as soon as we entered. There, accessories of all kinds were hung. “This belt is the cutest!” She exclaimed. “Maybe you can get an employee discount on it!” I joked. She smile and we walked to the back of the store, where a red-haired teen led us to an office. Alex waited outside, and I walked in the office. It was medium-sized, and very cramped. I sat in one of the two chairs facing a large desk. A man with short, dark, hair turned to face me. His skin was pale, and his nametag read: JASON: manager. “So, you’re Isabella Swanne?” he asked, examining my face. “Yup!” I exclaimed. I remembered reading somewhere that you have to be outgoing in order to even have chance to get the job! “You ready to start the interview?” he asked. Everything with him was a question. “Yes…” I hope I didn’t sound too frustrated. He started the interview. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too long. First he asked me to figure out about eight math problems, and then he gave me some scenarios, and asked me what I would do if they were to happen. Lastly, all I had to answer were some personality questions. I felt I did a good job. Before I left, he happily noted, “Just so you know, you and your friend are a shoo-in for this job. We’re desperate.” I smiled. “Thank you,” I exclaimed, “we’re a package deal anyways.” He laughed and escorted me out, motioning for Alex to come in. We hugged, and she left to go inside. Alex came out of the office, pale as a ghost. “Is everything alright?” I asked. “Yeah, I just…I’m just…a little nervous about my first interview, and all.” She forced a smile. We left the store and days later I heard the news. Alex came running to my house. “Did you get the call?! Yes! So did I! I have ALWAYS wanted to work at Delilah’s and now that you are t-“ “Wait…I didn’t get a call from Delilah’s.” “Oh.” Alex said, confused. “Let’s go down to the store, and figure things out. I don’t understand. I told him we were a package deal.” “Sure.” She said. We started walking down Rose Garden Avenue, then onto Cairo Street, a busy street, where Delilah’s was located. Minutes later Alex was stepping into the office. I tried not to think about the situation. I wonder how grandmas doing… I started to think. “Bella?” My head turned around quickly. Oh...yeah. The job. “Yeah?” I asked Alex. “Jason said that he’s really sorry, and that you were perfect for the job, but you weren’t ‘Delilah material.’ Not girly enough, I guess.” I blinked twice before answering. “Oh. Well, I hear Selena’s is hiring. That place pays good money. Let’s go apply there.” “Um, Bella, I already have a job.” She waved a paper and nametag in my face. That nametag is so cute! I thought. Not fair. “But, we’re a package deal. You promised that…you can’t take this job!” I felt a ping of jealousy run through me. “But, I’ve always wanted this job! You can’t expect me to turn it down!” “A promise is a promise!” I yelled. I wasn’t convincing her, so I ran out of the store, over to Selena’s. “I couldn’t believe her! How could she do such a thing as that?” I yelled to my mom! I tried talking to my parents that night, but they didn’t understand. It was clear they were on Alex’s side. I refused to apply for another job, but secret applied for Selena’s. I got the job, but I felt jealous. I had better pay, and possibly a nicer boss, but I was still infuriated. Why? Everyday at lunch, Alex would say how she wanted to talk to me, and that it was important. Since then, I started sitting at a table in the corner, alone. I never talked to Alex again, until one day, she showed up for work. At Selena’s.
