In Round 2, our 12 contestents got their first short story writing assignment, and wrote some love stories including some creative Cupids. Cyn's story "In Love with a God" amazed the judges and won her 1st place. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Mandy, who failed to turn in her story. What twists and turns will await in Round 3?

{Information for Round 3...
It's finally March, and that means soon we will kiss these chilly days goodbye and replace them with the warm, green days of spring! This means longer days, flowers, puppies & kittens, summer, and...spring cleaning! For Round 3, you will have to write another short story (1,000-75,000 words or less) base on one of the following writing prompts on spring cleaning. *NOTE: There are no rules for how to use these writing prompts. You can use them to write anything you want, as long as you stay on the the basic theme in the story starter. Change them or mix them up, you don't have to use them word-for-word. Just have fun with them!

The Challenge: Write a short story based on one of the following writing prompts:

Winter has passed and summer is coming. Every spring, people clean out their garages, attics, and closets. One family, who has recently purchased a vintage home, finds something mysterious in the house’s attic.

You are doing a long-overdue spring cleaning of your house. In your basement you find a small box tucked away in a corner. It is marked "Do Not Open." However, it is very old and the tape holding it shut has broken open. Write about what happens next.

Tips: Remember you're not using these writing prompts like story starters (you aren't going to have these word-for-word in the beginning of your story). These are just for the theme and to help you with writing it. (:

Deadline: March 18th {If you have a problem with the deadline, contact me and I can give you imunity (see rule #6). You must have a good reason to recieve immunity, not simply because you forgot or need more time.}

2) DON'T put any personal inappropriate information in your stories!
3) DON'T critisize other contestents stories. DO compliment them!
4) DON'T argue with me or the judges.
6) DO ask for immunity (excused from this round- can only use one time in compitition) if you feel you can't make the deadline.
7) DO have fun! (:
8 ) DO only edit minor mistakes after you've submitted your entry. DON'T completely change your story.
9) DON'T include anything inappriate in your story.

i'm starting to write my story i have such good ideas for this round!! this must be a good sign..

p.s. most of my stories will probably be in first person.. i get so confused if they are in any other way..

@Cyn- I'm the same way, I can't do third person, it's too confuzzling (xD). I have to do first person!

@ Taylor~ yeah.. so like.. when i had written one of my stories (not for any contest on here) one of my characters was like best friends with this other character.. ad the other character had the name of a kid in my school.. so it was like.. 'no! i am not THEIR best friend! its just a story character" so it gets kinda confusing...


gawsh.. i need a new notebook.. my old one is full from my other story for here.. *goes to shelf for new notebook*

@Cyn- LOL yeah I tend to avoid people names from school because my friends get all suspicious...especially if the character is a boy. LOL I have atleast 10 notebooks filled with random things from when I was younger. Now all my writing is on my laptop!

@ Taylor~ yeah.. the charaster WAS a guy.. and the girl had a crush on the guy that did not end well.. lol.. which is why i never let anyone but my friends read my stories.. i don't type up my stories. because then it gives everyone who uses the computer the ability to read them.. some of the stories i write.. i dislike when people read.. (lik when a girl has a crush on a guy.. that kinds of story) so i use notebooks and keep them up in my room.. (they pretty much fill one shelf on my bookshelf)
