[-March Mayhem: Part 1-] [Two new Kinz and a little misunderstanding can cause a lot of madness] There will be 3 parts to this update. _________________________________________________________
Miles and Tanner had just finished their training session. “That was awesome!” Tanner exclaimed, tagging along behind Miles as they left the tech control center. “It’s like a giant video game!”
“It sure is.” Miles smiled. He remembered being Tanner’s age, so young and lively. Although he himself was still childish and spirited at times, Miles had a job now—the responsibility of keeping the Agency’s technology up and running. Without his tech sense, the Agency would surely fail without him.
The pair ambled down the hallway, Tanner bouncing happily beside his mentor. Miles thought he caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of something moving, but he brushed it off as simply being his imagination.
As they slipped into the Agency Meeting HQ (aka: the coat closet/pantry—very secretive…), they were surprised to find the rest of the Elite Eleven gathered around a new Kinz—a scruffy dog. Isaiah was holding the dog down and the rest all seemed to be hurling inquiries at the terrier. No one noticed Miles and Tanner enter.
Finnigan pricked his ears, alert. “Miles, Tanner,” he said, acknowledging their presence.
The two shuffled over to where Finnigan sat in a basket of scarves and gloves, observing the very much one-sided conversation going on between the Elite Eleven members and the terrier. “Who’s the new guy?” Miles asked, settling next to Finnigan in the basket.
Tanner jumped up to join them. “Yeah, what’s he doing here? Why does everyone sound mad at him?”
Finnigan’s tone was grave. “We believe he is a spy for Xander. During Isaiah’s morning run, he caught sight of the dog nosing around the property and tackled him. He then brought him in for a questioning session. As you can tell, it’s not going too well right now.”
“And why don’t you just take over and demand order, Sir?” Miles said slowly, not wanting to offend the Vice President of the Agency.
Finnigan’s expression softened and he laughed. “Oh, Miles, because where would the fun in that be? I’ll let them badger him for awhile; see what information they can get out of him. Then it’ll be my turn. And Ace’s of course. Once he’s finished attending to his own private personal matters, that is.”
Just then, a riot broke out. The terrier started barking frantically, trying to free himself from Isaiah’s iron grasp. The Elite Eleven members were all shouting at him; the dog only responded by growling and barking some more, snapping at the Kinz who got too close.
“Enough!” Finnigan’s commanding voice filled the room. Everyone stopped and looked up, the room silent.
The dog, however, saw this as the perfect opportunity to try and escape. He threw one powerful punch at Isaiah, square in the jaw, knocking the lion to the ground.
The dog then hightailed it to the door. Chaos followed seconds later as the Kinz realized what had happened. They threw themselves at the terrier, all the while shouting for him to stop.
King finally scooped up the dog, flying him up to a high shelf in the closet and depositing him there. The shouting below ceased. King alighted next to the thrashing dog on the wire shelf. “Jump, if you wish, spy dog,” he smirked.
The terrier emitted a low growl from deep within his chest. “Do you really think I would be foolish enough to do such a thing?” he said in a gravelly voice. “For the last time—I’m NOT a spy!”
“Then why did you try to run, huh?” King pressed. He could tell the terrier was getting agitated.
“Because you’re all crazy!” he screamed.
