Default Well the holidays start on the 12th but i think ganz is missing a holiday

I love the holidays i really do but ganz as I can see always forgets another important holiday! They always forget Kwanzaa and remember Hanukkah! Everyone may not celebrate it but I do! Also not everyone celebrates Hanukkah so I think they should have a kenorah for Kwanzaa! or atleast mention it! I know they probrably forget Chinease new year and cinco de mayo too! Who else thiks all holidays should be at the very least mentioned on ww?

I think I know why they didn't do it. That's because not the MAJORITY celebrates it. The majority does celebrate Halloween, Thanks Giving, and Christmas. I'm Chinese all my "Chinese friends" quit webkinz already because their parents don't let them buy a new one. So you get my point.

I agree with Jessy. Not necessarily the majority celebrates it, and if you notice, they are already very careful with their Christmas practices; they don't bring anything about the birth of Jesus or anything religion-related into Webkinz World. Christmas for them is about spirit and caring; I admire that. I'm not aware of the Hanukkah or Kwanzaa traditions, but some people might be offended if Webkinz went too into detail with religion and such when making the activities based on these holidays. I'm part Chinese also, and I celebrate Chinese New Year, but we don't celebrate it on January 1st. It's based on the lunar calendar, so it falls on a different day each year. I think the problem is that if Ganz tried to incorporate everyone's holiday, there would still be some rare holidays left out, people might get offended, and they'd spend too much time on holidays, and not anything else in WW.

It would be great if they a least start to recognize the other holdiays. It would be a great way to help educate all of us on different traditions.

That is true. If they treated them as learning about traditions and not on the religious aspect, it would be good. Don't feel bad about it though, or even left out. Ganz is a company based in Canada, but they don't celebrate the Canadian Thanksgiving which is in October, they go with the majority and celebrate the US one.
I think it is wonderful that they celebrate any holiday and make them fun for us all to look forward to.
My favourite is Winterfest. That covers all celebrations for the season that are not individually recongnized CJ

I think that they should not try to do EVERY holiday. If they did it would be a big mess.

There are SO many traditions out there
So many ethnic backgrounds.
started out just in North America. They have only been global for a short while.
They DO try to encompass special occasions by giving us extra little perks in the click fests.
Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
You know, they are a Canadian based Company and I do believe that Mr. Ganz himself is Jewish. Yet there is very little mention of Our Canadian Thanksgiving, Canada 1st (Day of Confederation, like Independence day for US) and also for Chanukkah. They do have the lovely Mennorah that light up one day at a time during the celebration. Maybe we will be lucky and this year we might see a Dreidel in the W-shop as well.
But really, you should not take this personally Ganz is really trying to accomodate us all and they have a lot to consider.

I used to work for a public library- and you are right - it is awkward and sometimes difficult to accomodate all faiths. One place gave up and just did snow men... like Ganz's snow dog decoration!!

One way to celebrate Chinese New Year is to purchase the pet that best matches that year - like a white mouse for year of the rat and so on. The other thing to do is as a group contact them with a petition document sent to main corporate office requesting that they add Chinese New Year.

I included it where I used to work and the little kids loved all the books and arts related to it.

I do understand what you mean. But there are so many holidays and Ganz has to stop somewhere. If Kwanza was made, "What about Chinese new year?" If that was made, "What about Labors day?" If that was made.. well, you get the picture. But yes, I totally understand what you mean. No offense.

And for some very oddreason i thought ganz was in new york and d noclue they were in canada... I know they CANT clebrate EVERY holiday and maybe Mr Ganz is Jewish but i just didnt understand, Thanks for helping me understand a little more.

By the way if the moderators want to they may close this thread and thanks again to those who explained why to me.
