Purple Tabs and Challenge Icons Interfere with Room Designing
I was playing around in my graphics program and thought I'd make a mock-up of how Ganz could better position the purple tabs and challenge icons such that our room space is not interfered with. Below are two solutions insofar as the challenge icons are concerned.
A third solution is to make the challenge icons smaller to make them even less obtrusive. In my third example below, the icons have been reduced by 25%.
Not only do my solutions not interfere with the actual room itself, but the challenge icons no longer interfere with moving or removing a wallhanging that is hung on the very edge of the left wall.
Every time I try to move or remove this poster from the wall, I open the Camp Kinz Challenge menu.
Please read my post #16 for an update to this topic.

Re: Purple Tabs and Challenge Icons Interfere with Room Designing
Any of these would be so wonderful!!! Anymore if I have challenge icons or purple tabs interfering with a room I need a picture of, I usually spend hours upon hours in paint getting rid of them! Here's an example of what took more time than I care to say in paint. At times I even went pixel by pixel to get rid of those nasty tabs!!!
Re: Purple Tabs and Challenge Icons Interfere with Room Designing
Hi dancerchick914 and I feel your frustration.
I'm a Web Designer and Graphics Editor, so I "photoshop" the purple tabs and doors out of EVERY single screenshot that I take of my finished rooms ~ and I've designed well over 250 rooms "to the nines" on just one account alone ~ and then I put the screenshots on my personal WW web site so that one day when WW gets the kibosh once and for all, I've got something to show for my investment.
It can take hours ~ and yes, sometimes pixel by pixel ~ to fill in the wallpaper where the purple tabs and doors were. Sometimes I have to get creative and fill in the wallpaper with what I think was behind the purple tabs.
I did all of the challenges on my main room designing account and two main storage accounts just to get rid of the icons on the left side. As soon as Ganz adds new challenges, you can bet I'm doing them immediately, again, just to get rid of them and not for the prizes (except for the six new prizes that have been offered, I already had multiples of all prizes, including the eStore items and the Mr. Moo Chocolate Bar ~ which is worthless now ~ but that's a whole other thread for another day).
I take my room designing very seriously. I wish Ganz felt the same towards its members.
PS ~ Nice job on the Upscale Condo Wallpaper's bricks. I know from experience that filling in the bricks was especially tricky.

Thanks for the support and kind words Coony and Jemkinz. Unfortunately, the kinds of changes I've proposed would take Ganz anywhere from 6-12 months to implement, so I highly doubt we're going to see any improvements in these areas in the next few maintenances ... if ever. I mean, look how long we've been waiting for the "doors solution" to take effect ....
We've asked Ganz for much simpler, easier improvements ~ for example, cutting PJ Collie's long-winded welcome speech down to under a minute ~ and still she rambles on and on ....
It's a shame that our very good and reasonable ideas and suggestions fall on deaf ears at Ganz HQ.

Wonderful proposal and illustrations.
I often wonder how big their development and maintenance staff is -
a war can be launched in days, but what should be simple code updates take millenia.
Perhaps it really is just one person answering all the phones & e-store lines & shipping & ....
Boy, they do great voices.
Just picture it...
Best logical explanation.

Mystic (or do you prefer MZ?), I'm so glad that you decided to make this a separate thread. I applaud your solutions to these annoyances. Your graphics improvements would only increase the pleasure of working in our rooms.
I hope that someone who can and will do something soon at Ganz gets word of your simple and creative solutions.
Re: Purple Tabs and Challenge Icons Interfere with Room Designing
Hi everyone and thank you for your comments. And hi again Serena. Everyone just calls me Mystic around the forums.
The purple tabs in the outdoor and indoor rooms have changed over the years and most people don't notice the difference anymore. Case in point, look at my examples below ~
I've got screenshots of the yards that go back before we had different seasons and treetop and underwater rooms in WW. In the beginning, concerning outdoor yards, there were only winter and summer seasons, there was no night and day, no dusk or twilight, no rain or snow, no clouds or stars in the sky, and the mountains and trees looked quite a bit different, but I chose the more recent outdoor yard to use in my examples since that is what we have to look at now.
In the top example, notice how the purple tab on the right is much higher and clears the mountains and trees. Back in those days, it wasn't as much of a pain for people like myself and dancerchick914 to edit out the tabs as we only had to fill in the missing sky.
But look at the bottom example how much sky space we lost due to the purple tabs being lowered on the room area and how much larger the right tab became when Ganz added the Zum icon. Ganz didn't add the lost sky space to the bottom of the room area (not that that would matter since the bottom of the room space isn't used for anything) ~ Ganz just took away room space from the top thereby reducing our pets' surroundings.
