This morning I sent a "suggestion" to WW while playing. I let them know how I feel about them retiring a rare and to please reconsideer. I also suggested to them to put less wshop items in the curio shop. I a real curio shop has hard to find/rare items in there with a few regular every day items. I also let them know that its way to hard to get a rare cause they don't offer them often enough.
Please if you agree with not retiring a rare, let them know. There is a spot for our suggestions in WW on the newspaper. They do read our suggestions from there. Go, go go and let them know how you feel.
aibowers has a great idea! i sent a message to them through that as well. i also called. i did it as a plea for the kids who just can't have constant let downs and disappearing items without some sort of notice. not only that a retirement is coming but what is being retired!
a huge issue i see with retiring rares is it is not obvious to the ww community as a whole. it's hard to know a rare theme is retired. even if ganz puts a front page story up in ww you still have lots and lots, most likely most accountholders who don't log in on a regular basis.
not everyone is aware of wi and how to find out rares in advance.
Thank you nicolee for Threading this Rare Retiring Topic.
I almost equate this to tracking Doug. What if you had 4 gems to go to receive the big finale water feature and Ganz stopped the Doug Game?
If you are a new member, limited WW playing member or simply a non-trading member, how would you possibly acquire a retired rare, not to mention those most desired pieces?
Ganz, please reconsider your decision to retire a RARE theme. At minimum, offer pieces on a limited timed bases so at least your members would have an opportunity to utilize their hard earned KC on something they have been saving for!
While I do not have, nor desire every piece in each Rare collection, I cannot imagine a child who wishes for even one (more) piece that will no longer be able to get it
Ganz, I think that if you want to retire themes, either WShop or Curio Shop rare, you need to tell us ahead of time what themes will be retired and when. That would be the most fair thing to do!
I understand the need to clear out some of the "old" stuff in order to make room for new stuff, but not everyone has their older rare rooms finished, because of how the rares are rotated and sold in the Curio Shop! And what about people who have only recently joined WW, who just started collecting those rares?
in the past when items have been retired everyone had access to them. you have themes in the wshop, clothing, and holiday items which as long as you logged in on the holiday you recieved a gift, whether or not you are deluxe. all these items were available to all members and all members knew ahead of time when they would be available. rare items do not work like this. if you are fortunate enough to be online and in ww at the time the rare is offered you can obtain the item.
most importantly, many many members have no clue there are websites out in the web world that can tell you when rares will pop up! i was on webkinz for a year before i learned about this. i only had a couple of rares when i found WI. these rare items were marketed to WW members as items you could get from arte and you needed kinzcash to buy them. trading cards are not the only way you can get these items. to put them in the estore would just bring more economic hardship on parents out there who are hurt and upset their child cannot get there special rare item. i know many parents who will pay for something to help their child feel better, no matter how against estore they may be. and in this economy thats just not fair. (if this rare even makes it to estore, of course)
there are just too many special ww items we have to pay real money for. i really would like the special rares to be left in the curio shop circulation. all the rares. i, like everyone else, have my favorite rare theme but i will be upset no matter what theme gets retired.
Just stopping by to say I added my comments in WW. I told them...
"I think it is TOTALLY unnecessary to retire rares, since they are so rare to begin with, and like many are saying, new members will be crushed. At the VERY LEAST you could give a 3 or 4 month notice and if even that is too much, at LEAST TELL US WHICH THEME IS GOING BEFORE ITS GONE!!!! Please reconsider this action."
(I hope it gets through to someone who has decision making powers )
I agree, Please Gantz don't retire a rare theme.
My idea to get more rares available is Arte could have Rare room of the day, where you could pick one of many of the items in that theme per day. I have most of the older rares covered so I'm only thinking of the younger players just getting started.
There have been so many great ideas posted and so many great reasons already stated for not retiring a rare theme. What can I add? Please, please, please don't retire a rare theme. I love collecting. I've never traded, only collected. Webkinz has been such a great learning environment for my kids. Collecting rare items has taught them patience and the value of working hard for kinzcash and really deciding what to spend kinzcash on. They love looking at all the rare items available and telling me which ones they want to save up for. It's really alot more fun than just buying things at the w-shop because these items are rare... they mean more. Kindof like working really hard to get a trophey. We love to do that too.
