You can't go wrong with computers imo.
I was a computer systems analyst for many years, then got into management and audit/investigation. Decided the audit/investigation work wasn't really my thing, and now am a senior specialist doing Geographic Information Systems work. I use computer mapping software to do analysis of huge data sets. I absolutely love it.
One thought about the police officer idea -- you can go into this type of work with the idea that you can help people, and thank goodness many people do -- but unless you are ready to deal with the more unpleasant things you will run across in that work, it may not be for you. In the investigations I did, I was exposed to the 'underside' of the organization I worked for. Fraud, theft, etc., I was able to help the agency eliminate many of the problems, but I was threatened, received creepy phone calls from people I was investigating, and generally found out things I really didn't want to know! So, just something to think about! |
