Well, I'm fluent in English and almost fluent in German, and I can honestly say that while English is hard to interpret sometimes, German is INSANE when it comes to cases, like dative, accusative, nominative, and genetive You have to know the article for every single word to translate correctly (the article is just the form of a/the that is used before the word). It's nuts.

Because there are phrases that you have no idea what they mean, and silent letters, and OH! so much hardness!

I think English is harder because it has a lot of rules. And even then it is hard. The rules aren't used in every word that contains those letters...It's confusing. I voted English!
