Your dad has a right to be concerned. Not only with the brain cancer issue (which, is still unproven - yet you can get cancer from standing in front of the microwave so it probably is true).
But there are other reasons he may be holding back. A cell phone is a HUGE responsibility. Texting and calling the wrong people can get you in big trouble so just keep that in mind if you dad decides to let you get one
Maybe you could work out something with how many minutes a day you could use to limit exposure.

Even if you aren't getting text, you probably won't call on it that often. Just when you want to chat with a friend or you need to call a parent or someone when, example, they need to come pick you up from a sports turnout.
