Default Subscribed Threads [Guide]

Subscribed Threads

I haven't seen a guide like this before, but excuse me if there is one. I did not mean to copy the creator.

Now, lately I have seen many questions about subscribed threads. On this guide, I'll cover those questions and go over a few things a new member on WI should know about the great subscriber system.

NOTE: Click the spoiler buttons to see the images.

Let's start out with a few simple questions.

What is a subscribed thread?
A subscribed thread is when you, well, subscribe to a thread. If you go to the "Subscribed Threads" link below your username, you can see them. When you click it, you see I'll your subscribed threads. Whenever you go here, you can see which of your subscribed threads has new posts, etc.

How do I view my subscribed threads?
Just go here.

How can I add a subscribed thread?
Just click right here, under thread tools.

Click the image to open in full size.

How do I remove a thread for my subscriptions?
Simply check this, then scroll down to the bottom and press "delete".

Options
You have two options for subscribed threads. They can both be edited at your user cp. Simply click "User CP" at the top menu and then "Edit Options". Under edit options, you see two choices under Default Thread Subscription Mode. The first says Do Not Subscribe and the second says Subscribe.

Click the image to open in full size.

The first one that says Do Not Subscribe means that you will have to add threads yourself to your subscriptions. The second, Subscribe, means that any time you post on a thread, it's automatically subscribed. I use this one, I prefer it, but others use the other one.

Folders
If you want to sort out your subscribed threads, your best bet is to do it with folders. For example, if you wanted roleplays in one part and polls in another, you would create folders. Now, how do you do this?
Click on this.

It will take you to a page like this.

Once you get to this page, you can add folders and delete them. To remove one, take is off from the list. To add one, write it in the list. You must have at least one folder. Press "Save" to delete and "Reset" to reset them all. Be sure you want to do this.

To add a subscription to a folder, simply check the thread like we did before and scroll down to the button, like you did with deleting a subscription. Instead, you are going to move it to a folder, like this.

It will take you to a page similar to this.

Once you get there, select from the dropdown list which folder you want to move the threads to, and press "Move Items".

Extra little notes
-I believe there is no maximum as to how many threads can go in a folder or how many subscriptions you can have, correct me if I'm wrong.
-When your browsing the forums and you come across one of your subscribed threads with a new post, it will be bolded.
-There will probably never be a feature with a notification for a subscribed thread, but you never know...

Have fun with this feature.

Some useful comments from others [Thanks guys!]

There actually is a feature for receiving email notifications on subscribeds. If you go to advanced editing on one of your own threads, then you can change the notification to for every post, daily, weekly, or monthly. (I think it's monthly.) I know there's also a way to get it for threads you don't own, but I don't know how, since I don't do the notifications anyway. XD

Okay, I checked. XD There's no monthly, just instant, daily, and weekly. And you can get to it by doing advanced editing on any thread you've posted in.
Thanks Shadow. ^

Awesome guide, Ave!! I do want to say two things.

1. I've had up to 35 subscribeds before, and it didn't give me a limit. XD Just a comment on your "no limit" note.

2. XD
