I've had this little guide for a long time. I made it months ago. I feel it is time to let it out.
To have a great poll, you need to do a few things...
1) Always include an other option.
If you don't have an other option, some people may feel excluded or such because they don't like / don't want to pick the options on the poll. "Other" might attract more people!
2) Don't make buttons like, "MY BUTTON! DON'T TOUCH!".
A lot of people don't like these buttons because they are kind of forceful and such. If you want to make a button so you don't skew the results, make it a nice "Results" button. I sometimes like to just see the results too, so I use this button often.
3) Make sure you have a wide variety.
If you are making a poll, such as, "What's your favorite dog?", then try to make a variety of choices. It's fun to see what dog people like, but if you only include 3 options + other, you are probably going to get A LOT of others. Try to choose the most popular dogs, too. (Golden Retriever, Lab, Husky, etc...)
4) If you are asking about something you made, etc, be ready for the results.
If you are asking something like, "Is my picture good?" , and you put, say, these Options:
...be ready for the results. You should know that if you put negative options, people WILL choose them. Some may just not like your style, or some just want to be rude. Be ready. Or you could always put some more polite options. (such as, "It is not my Style")
For the voters...
1) Explain why you chose that option.
Sometimes, when you vote and not post, the poll makers will be confused. Posting why clears things up.
2) Be Kind.
Nobody likes people who are rude. When you vote and post, be kind about it so you do not hurt others feelings.
