Default New, EASY, way to take & upload pictures using Picasa 3

New, Easy way to take a screen shot and upload them to WI using Picasa 3.

The best feature of Picasa 3 is taking multiple screen shots one after the other without having to paste the image after each one. Picasa keeps all your screen shots in one folder and has great editing tools including Crop and Adding Text. Now there is NO reason to use MS Paint. This will save you time and is MUCH easier to use. Follow these simple directions and feel free to PM me if you have additional questions or need help.
  • Install or upgade to Picasa 3. This is an excellent FREE program to store, view and edit all your photos.
  • Once installed open Picasa.
  • Now leave Picasa open (you may minimize to taskbar if desired) and login in to WW.
Important: Picasa MUST be opened for it to store your print screens. You can take multiple shots of your screen without having to paste between each one.
  • Find something you want to take a shot of and press the Alt + Prnt Scrnkey.
The prnt scrn key is usually located at the top of the keyboard above the F10.

NOTE: pressing the Alt and the Prnt Scrn at the same time will capture the image of just the open application window. If you just press Prnt Scrn your entire computer screen and all open applications will be captured.
  • You should see a little pop up in the right hand corner of your screen that says “screenshot saved click to view”. This only pops up for a few seconds.
  • Go back to Picasa to the folder Projects / Screen Captures. Double Click to open the screen capture you just took.

Click the image to open in full size.Insert
  • Here you will see editing tools including Crop.
Click the image to open in full size.
  • Click crop and drag a square around the area you want to keep. Once you have highlighted the area you want press enter to crop. (This is easiest to do when Manual cropping is selected from the drop down menu.) Voila, you should have a nice close up picture.

Click the image to open in full size.
  • Click Export. Use the slider to resize to 480 pixels and click o.k. Exporting saves the screenshot in a folder as a .jpg.
Once you click export a window will open the folder where you exported the image. Pay attention where the image is saved. You will need this info to upload to WI.

Click the image to open in full size.

  • To Upload to WI: (choose one of the following options)
Option 1:
As an Attachment:
    • Click reply to a thread (NOT quick reply)
    • Scroll down to additional options, manage attachements
    • Upload the screen capture from you computer by browsing to the image (default folder is: My Pictures\Picasa Exports\Screen Captures)
    • You should see your picture in your post as an attachment

Click the image to open in full size.

Option #2:
As a large picture in the post:
1. Go to your profile and click on your Albums
2. Open an existing Album or Click Add Album
3. Click Upload Pictures
4. Upload the screen capture from you computer by browsing to the image (default folder is: My Pictures\Picasa Exports\Screen Captures)
5. When your picture is uploaded click on it and copy the Picture URL (right click on the code and press copy.
6. Now go to a Reply or Quick Reply and click on the add image icon . Delete the http:// and paste in the copied code.
7. Click Post comment and you should see the large image you uploaded.

Hope this helps some of you out there! Happy Uploading! Let me know if you have any questions.
