This is my GIMP guide! I spend a lot of time on this. I hope you
guys enjoy it! Please do not take my graphic examples, or be mean,
or do anything bad. I do work hard for you guys.
GIMP is a program used for image manipulation, or graphics. GIMP
stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. We don't know who
created this genius program, but whoever did was amazing! I find
GIMP better than Photoshop if you're good. Photoshop costs a lot of
money, but GIMP is easy and free to download. Just Google it!
Menus: You can find any of the menus under Windows > Dockable
Dialogues. If you still can't find one, ask me. Lines: You see those
lines on some of my graphics? You can add them at Filters > Distorts >
Video. Border: You can add a border at Filters > Decor > Border.
Animation is moving dots. You can make hearts, fireworks, or moving
text. I only know few animation tricks, so be patient with me. First, you
want to duplicate your base so that you have two. Set your pencil size
to 0.10 and make sure it's a good color. Now draw a dot. Create a new
layer. Draw another dot. Keep repeating until you have your favorite
animation going. You can see it at Filters > Animation > Playback.
Make sure to save this as a GIF image! If you don't, it will not show up.
To add text to an image, you want to find the text tool. It is a picture
of a letter A. Click it, and select your color. To select a font, look at the
square with two letters in it. Click it, and scroll down the list to look at
what you have. We will get to downloading new ones later! Now, you
want to click on the one you like. Make sure your image is open, now.
Make a box where you want it (you can move it later). Type in the
box. I'm using font Verdana and typing 'Nyan Cat!' Next, you can pick
a size. Use the arrows on the side to see what you like. Now save your
image as NAME.jpg and show me! Here is what I got:

To make an icon, you want to create a new image. Make sure in each
box you have 100. Now, find a picture. I like to use WeHeartIt or even
Google Images. Now, open it. Crop around it to find something in it you
like. Now, paste it onto your base. You can move it around to where you
would like it. Next, merge it down from the layers menu. Now you can
add text, animation, a border, or anything you want! Save it like the
following: NAME.png without animation. If there is animation, save it
as NAME.gif so you can see it! Now, show me! Here is what I got.
