Welcome to my guide; I will be teaching you cool things to do with Gimp.
WHAT IS GIMP? Gimp is a picture editing service that is free for download online. Here's a link to the download page- GIMP - Downloads If this download doesn't work for you just google "Gimp Downloads" for this click the link that says in orange download gimp 2.6.11 follow the given istructions from there; and enjoy gimp.
HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN DOING GIMP? I've been doing Gimp for not even a year yet so if I can do it, you can too. Never lose hope in Gimp, it will come to you, sooner or later. I know it looks hard with all the buttons but with some time and effort you will soon know what every button means and you will be a pro.
~TIPS~ I do have a few tips for Gimp these are pretty much just cool things to know. To see you're animation before you save you're picture- Filters>Animations>Playback>Play Settings- .png is good for a still image, with no animation, it is more clear then .jpg/.jpeg .jpg is good for a still image also, but is no as clear as a .png .gif is for animation, it is what you use when you save a animated picture;this is usually clear. If you are going to be drawing something- Use pencil instead of paintbrush, paintbrush will make it pixely while pencil will just do one clean dot. If you try this you will understand what I'm talking about.

Since Animations are highly wondered about I decided to make them first.
So as you know there is many kinds of animated heart so we'll start on them.
~Animated Heart Drawing (Starts at bottom)~ 1. Open up your icon 2.Doom in 800% 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11.Save as .GIF ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Duplicate you're image that has nothing on it 2 times(In you're layers tab you will have three of the same plain images)
2. Choose the plain image on the top 3.Draw a full heart on it 4.Duplicate the layer with the heart on it 5.You now have 4 layers; move them in this order from bottom to top (plain, heart, plain, heart) They'll look like this- 6.Save as .GIF
Well now you can pretty much do any type of heart you want so I'll stop at that ;] If you need another heart tutorial just ask and I'll post it in a comment to you :].
~Dots around~ -Note; this runs pretty high in KB units- 1.Open your icon 2.Doom in 400% 3.Make one dot 4.Make a new layer 5.Make a new dot (Adjust how far apart;you will follow this for the rest of your picture.) 4.new layer & continue with dots and new layers 5.When you make your last dot save as a .GIF
~ANIMATED BLINKING STAR~ 1.Open your icon 2.Duplicate your icon 2 times 3.Choose the the top duplicate and make a star like this; 4.Duplicate the star 5.Move the layers like this [Bottom to Top] *Plain being the icon before you put on the star (PLAIN,STAR,PLAIN,STAR) 6.Save as .GIF
1.Open your icon 2.Duplicate it 2 times 3.Make a new layer of white 4.Duplicate your white layer 2 times 5.Arrange the layers like this (icon, white, icon, white, icon, white) 6.Click a white layer 7.Filters>Noise>RGB noise;Unclick independent RGB hit ok. Repeat for the other white layers. 8.Click your white layer again; [Filter>blur>motion blur] Mess around with the angle and length make sure the lines in the picture are at a slant like / repeat for each layer, but every time change the length some. 9.Change the opacity of each white layer to something around 40.5. 10.Merge the white layers down 11.(Filers>Animation>Playback) to preview it before you save. 12.Save as .GIF
