Sometimes, when typing, you have a need to use extra symbols that are not found on the standard keyboard. Maybe you're typing in a foreign language, of you are trying to write a mathematical sentence. Whatever the reason, some extra symbols can be of use.
Hold down the alt, or alt and shift keys, and press another key. The key can be a letter, a number, or a symbol. When you do this, a new symbol will appear. There are two lists of symbols below. One list shows symbols that can be created by holding "ALT" and a key, and the other lists symbols that are created with "ALT", "Shift", and a key.
