.Open a new canvas, 400x100.
.Go File>Dialogs>Layers or just Ctrl+L for the layers dialog. Delete the white background layer. Make a new layer. Call it text.
.Use the text tool to type a four letter word, eg KINZ. Size it to your liking and use the font “King Cool KC”. Change the color, too. Make it a bright color.
.Use the move tool to move it to the middle. Select around it. Crop to selection with Image>Fit Canvas to Selection.
.Use shift+ctrl+a to deselect everything. Select the last three letters.
.Go to Colors>Hue/Saturation. Move the slider up to 30 or another number and click O.K.
.Again, deselect everything. This time, select the last two. Again, do the hue/saturation with 30.
.Repeat with 1.
.Save as text.png
.Select everything with Ctrl+A. Copy everything. Make a new layer. Call it “text 2”. Paste and merge the floating layer. . Make sure the text overlaps, and move it if it doesn’t.
.Now, change the hue/saturation by 90.
.Make a new layer, and paste the last layer you made on. Change the hue/saturation again. Move if needed.
.Repeat the step.
.Save as a gif. You’ll need to say save as an animated gif, and when you get to the Save as GIF screen, type in 150 milliseconds (or more, it looks better then). Check “Use delay entered for all above frames”. Then, have frame disposal when unspecified as “One frame per layer”. This is important! Check “Use disposal entered for all frames”. Click on save.
.Upload to photobucket and post!
