Those are ASC-II characters -- and you can access a whole chart of them in your character map utility on your computer. Each font has different ones (and some fonts have none at all). Of course, there are only a few fonts that are for use on-screen, so that limits your choices for posts, but it also works in word processing & other text uses.
That is right. You can find those ASCII characters anytime for use in Word Processor documents, Spreadsheets labels, etc.
You can also find them in your internet browser. Just pull down the Edit menu and choose Special Characters. That is way easier than trying to remember them all.
I have a Mac, so my list might be different. There are four musical notes and three music symbols.
