This is a guide on how to do rainbow outline text on gimp like this;
[~☺] The guide starts now! [☺~]
Step 1; Open Gimp, File>New You can leave the size as it is cause you can crop it, or type in any size you want. Make sure your Color space has RGB color in it and make sure it's filled with Transparency.
Step 2; Drag out the text box on your picture (the big bold A) And type in your words, I suggest you use the colors white or black for rainbow. My font is the Sweetie Pie (:
Step 3; Now make a new layer, by clicking the white sheet of paper on the layers menu. I suggest naming the layer rainbow so you can keep up with which is which. Make sure the Width and Length is the same size as your original picture. And it as to be filled with transparency. Hit OK
Step 4; On your layers menu, move the rainbow layer UNDER the text layer
Step 5; Now click on your text layer again, make sure your still on the text section, Roll down on the menu and hit the "Path from Text button"
Step 6; Now hit Select>From Path. Now you will have marching ants all over the edges of the text(black and white lines)
Step 7; Hit select again now hit "Grow" A pop-up will show up, I suggest putting in 4, 5, or 6, this will be the size of your outline. Hit OK.
Step 8; It now looks like this.
Step 9; Now click the Gradient tool, Choose a gradient (I'm using saturated rainbow make sure the shape is liner and repeat none.
Step 10; Click on your rainbow layer and Drag a line across your text, all the way across it, the let go, your gradient will appear
Step 11; Click on your text layer Layer>Merge down
Now you can crop it by clicking on the crop tool (It's under the dropper tool) and drag it around your text then click on the text and it will crop (:
Your all done enjoy!
