GIMP Tutorials by ChristianGirl

Hello and welcome to my GIMP Tutorials
thread. My name is ChristianGirl, but you
can call me Maddy or Madison. I don't mind.
I will add tutorials for everyone's favorite
image manipulation program, GIMP, every
day of the week. Some will be quite easy,
some challenging, and some just plain old
intermediate and normal. If you ever need
some help understanding my tutorials,
you can PM me! I'd love to help you out.

Image Types
A GIF IMAGEis for videos, images
with animation, etc.
A PNG IMAGEis the best for graphics
and photography.
A JPG IMAGEis for a simple image
without animation.

Brushes and Textures
A BRUSH is like a paintbrush- you can
use it for making textures (below) and
cool effects. Also, the ones that came with
your GIMP program are good for drawing
animation, doodles, etc.
A TEXTURE is awesome for adding cool
effects. You can blend this texture into
your original image for a water-like,
firey, or other effect.

Avatars

This is a guide for how to make
avatars on GIMP. (: Please note
that this may not be easy for
some people, and it could be for
others. PM me if you would like
any more help with this guide.

STEP ONE: Make a new image.
Size it 100 pixels by 100 pixels.
STEP TWO: If the image is not
already white, fill it in with white.
STEP THREE: Open another image.
For example, one of some flowers.
STEP FOUR: Size the image down
to about 94 pixels by 30 pixels.
STEP FIVE: Paste the image onto
the avatar base. Move it to the top
of the base, leaving 3 pixels between
the top and the image.
STEP FIVE: Add a 1 pixel border to
the image. It would be best if black.
STEP SIX: Add text to the bottom.
It can say anything you want about
the picture you have on the avatar.
For example, mine says roses.
STEP SEVEN: Save your file as
a PNG image.

Animated Rain

Hey guys! This is my newest
tutorial - animated rain. This
is one of the best so far, and
the results are stunning. Please
note that it is a little hard to
make animated rain. If you need
some extra help, PM me!

STEP ONE: Open your image on
GIMP. Duplicate it two times, so
that you have 3 of the same layers.
STEP TWO: Make a white layer.
Duplicate that layer twice, too.
STEP THREE: Reorder the layers.
It should go [from down to up];
original, white, original, white,
original, white. (:
STEP FOUR: Add RGB noise
to all of the white layers. Make
sure that they're all the same.
STEP FIVE: Add motion blur to
the white layers. They must be
the same length and angle.
STEP SIX: Merge the white layers
down so that you have three of
the original layers.
STEP SEVEN: Go to Animation and
Playback to see the new rain.
STEP EIGHT: Save the file
as a GIF to see the rain in your
photos folder.

Click the image to open in full size.
