Alright, I tried to help a bit via PM. Here is some more information about the problem.

I'm using MacOS 10.5 with the Preview program. She is using MacOS 10.4.11, so some of the things I showed didn't work the same. If someone else has 10.4 and could help with screen shots of shrinking a regular image, that would be helpful.

The other problem is that she wants to crop an animated GIF. I don't know if you can do that in JPEG or JPEG-2000 format. I couldn't get Preview to just automatically convert it.

The reason she was not able to use it as an Avatar is it is slightly too big. The limits on this forum (as shown in the edit avatar screen) are:
Quote:
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 125 by 125 pixels or 48.8 KB (whichever is smaller).
The first image is 135 x 135 and 80KB. It is an 18-image sequence. I think that there is extra background below and to the right of the image, so I'm going to try and remove that.

If someone knows how to crop a whole sequence of images, that would be extremely helpful. I know there must be a better way than just doing it one image at a time, I'm just not sure what that is.
