Just below the banner is a link in green to FAQ.

One of the answers there includes how to take pictures with a Mac. It also has a link to a bbCode help page that will tell you how to create links in your text.

If you use the Go Advanced button when writing a reply, you also have a lot of icons that will help you create links (the globe with a link under it), images (the yellow mountains), and various other effects. Using the Preview Post you can check to make sure the formatting is correct before posting. I always try to remember to preview any posts I make so I can check the links.

Hi there fellow Mac Users!

Snuffles31, do you know how to take a screenshot on your Mac Book?

Here is how to take a screenshot:

Click the image to open in full size.

Once you have taken a screenshot, you may either upload it onto WI as an Attachment, or insert it as an image.

To attach a file, you scroll down to the end of your text box, past the similes and you will see "Manage Attachments". Upload your images accordingly, but ensure they are within the size constraints allowed.

To Insert an Image, you must previously have had it uploaded on to a photo sharing site ( such as photo bucket or tiny pic). Then take the URL of your image, and choose where you wish your image to be inserted on a thread, and click the "Insert Image" button. My above image was done this way.

Here is a useful "How To ... " thread that a member has made on WI:

I hope this helps.

I have been looking through old and new threads trying to help me out with my mac questions too. I normally use a desktop pc, but have a new macbook. This thread has been helpful to me. Good luck with the compressing issue, still figuring out myself. try going under file then choosing compress. (I typed compress into the Help-search area of the finder.)

If you are using Preview to edit the photo's, you can set the compression when you select the file type. Preview is the program that automatically comes up when you click on an image.

With JPEG or JPEG-2000 formats, there is a quality slider just below the format name. Below that it shows the resulting file size. As you move the Quality slider to the left it reduces the file size at some loss in image quality, moving it to the right preserves more of the original image details but causes the file size to go up.

Here is an example taken on my computer using the default Quality setting:
Click the image to open in full size.

...and using a much lower quality setting:
Click the image to open in full size.

As you can see, the file size shrunk from about 180 KBytes to under 50 KBytes.

You can also crop the pictures using Preview, using the 'Select' tool located just below the title bar of the window. I find it is easier to capture images if I don't have to be precise with the size, just crop out the sections I didn't need after capturing the image.

Hope this helps!
