Your thread could be next!
Let's start with your thread title.
This is one of the most important parts of a thread because it is the FIRST thing a potential viewer will see. If you have a catchy title, chances are the thread will have more views because people want to read things that interest or intrigue them.
Let's go through a few examples, shall we?
Thread Topic: You got a brand new Cotton Candy Bunny!
Now this is very exciting and since it is a very new webkinz, people would be very interested in hearing how you got it, where you got it, what you named it, and especially--they will want to see some pictures! First though, you are going to need a catchy thread title to "reel them in" and get them excited about your thread. Let's go through some potential thread titles.
i got a webkinz
please come to my thread!!!! click!!!!!!
I got a new Cotton Candy Bunny!
Yum Yum...it's a brand new Cotton Candy Bunny! Pictures included!
Now of the above potential titles, there are two that might catch my attention. Can you guess what they are? If you guessed 4 or 5, then you would be correct. The first and second title are so plain and boring. They show no emotion and if you are not excited about your thread, how can you expect others to be? The third option does not even explain what the thread is. This is just being desperate for people to view your thread and frankly just turns people away.
The fourth option is pretty good but could be better. It explains what the thread contains but lacks that WOW factor. The fifth option has it all: the wow factor, an explanation of the thread, and an extra touch. It is a very interesting title and has a good chance to be clicked, viewed, and of course, posted upon.
Thread Topic: You have an idea for halloween on webkinz.
You took the time to think of this brilliant idea so you are going to need an equally brilliant title so people want to view what you have been thinking. Let's go through some potential thread titles.
i have an idea
new idea for halloween
I haeve a grat iDeaa for halowen in www.
I have a SPOOKTACULAR idea for Halloween in Webkinz World!
Now of the above potential titles, I hope you now understand why the first three are not acceptable. The fourth is bad because it is not grammatically correct. It is very important that you spell things correctly and use correct grammar in your thread title. The fifth potential title is definitely something that would "reel" me in. It has all the key factors: the wow factor, an explanation of the thread, and an extra touch.
Next, we'll talk about how to write an interesting thread.
So now you have achieved the first important step--your thread has been clicked upon. Congratulations! But now, you need to keep their attention with an interesting topic. So what should you write about? How should you write it? Here are just a few basic tips.
Take time to write it. If you don't take the time to write it, the viewer will not take the time to read it. You need to make it easy to read and understand so the viewer knows what is going on and doesn't get confused with what it is you are trying to say.
Use proper grammar and spelling. You must spell things correctly if you want people to understand you and take you seriously.
Make it interesting and different. People don't read "just another" thread. They want to read YOUR thread and what YOU have to say so make it interesting and mix it up. Make your thread stand out. It's good to be different.
Make it informative. Have the viewer walk away feeling as if they now know something that they didn't previously know--whether it is the name of a new webkinz, how cute a black cat can be, or even what the name of your best friend is.
Be nice and kind. Try to keep a positive spin on your threads. Make your words "smile" as you might say. It's all in how you write just as much as what you write.
Put a link in your signature.
This is key to really making a popular thread. This way, the thread is advertised not only in the section you post it but also wherever you post. Make sure though that you make it something that stands out in your signature so people will see it and think "Wow, I need to view that thread!" I recommend bold, colored, large font and even maybe a picture.
Put the thread in the appropriate section.
If someone views a certain section of the forum then they are looking to view a thread on THAT topic. For instance, someone viewing the poll section is looking to answer a poll and not to hear about your new webkinz. Let's review how to appropriately place our threads.
Thread Topic: You got a new gorilla webkinz. Look What I Got! OR General Discussion/Chat OR Somebody Help! Answer: Look What I Got!
Thread Topic: You got a new puppy (in real life)! The Clubhouse OR Ideas For Ganz OR Open Mike Answer: Open Mike
Now you should have all the information you need to create a wonderful, interesting, and informative thread! Get out there and create, create, create!
I wish you all the best of luck!
Thank you Lilyrose. This is a very informative thread I have noticed that often a thread that is too long to read will get side-stepped for a thread that is shorter and POWER packed. Magical Retriever!! PICS will get way more attention than Hey, Everybody come here!!! Look at this, I have pictures of the New Magical Retriever!! Also, I have noticed that people will start a thread with ONE word Question?? Wouldn't it be better if they said 'Question about Seahorse' Or Question about The GE? Just a few thoughts Thank you, again
