just some notes before you start.
1] i have limited space, so it might be crammed.
2] i am asking Ryley if she can help out.
3] i, too, am still learning plenty more effects.
3] i have had photoshop cs4 for over 2 years.
4] i just recently obtained most of adobe's programs-
about 2-3 months ago, so i am learning those as well.

starting out.
the toughest part about getting photoshop is the beginning.
that goes with any program, really. i know when i first got it
i didn't know what one single button was. that's why i am here
to help you. first when you open up photoshop, it will look
something like this [x]. looks confusing, right? well, let's figure
out the buttons before anything, okay?

going from the first tool to the last...

1] pointer and arrow - this allows you to move the layer, meaning you can
take the image and drag it to a position of you liking.

2] the square outline - this is the marque. this allows you to highlight an image,
and copy and paste it to another image, or something of that sort.

3] the lasso looking tool - this allows you to do something similar as the marque tool.

4] crop tool - it is what it is. you can crop a part of an image to give it an effect.

5] eyedropper tool - this allows you to find the color of an object in your image. this works good
when you want to give the text a similar color as your image, or something like that.

6] spot healing brush - i've never used this, but i think it is to clear the image of its edits.

7] brush tool - if you download brushes, this will be what you use to put brushes onto the image.
it gives sort of a vibe to the images.

8] stamp tool - allows you to take patterns, and draw them on an image

9] history brush tool - i don't know what this is, and you will probably not have to use it

10] eraser - allows you to erase any mess-ups you have

11] blur tool - will smudge any object upon clicking

12] dodge & burn tool - will brighten or darken the image

13] pen tool - will let you create a shape

14] the big T - this allows you to make text

15] path tool - allows you to edit a path (i don't understand this one, either)

16] rectangle tool - allows you to make a rectangle shape

17] hand tool - lets you scroll across an image if its too big to fit the screen

18] magnify glass - lets you zoom into an image

some simple notes about these:
1] if you right click the tool, it will show you more tools similar to that one.
2] some tools i don't even use, and i have had photoshop for years. don't expect to use all of them.

simple things.
okay, so I am not going to make you sit through a whole thing on photoshop,
so I am just simply going to start w. some simple things. C:

how to copy and paste one simple part of an image: so we will need to use the quick selection tool, which is the stick that has the circle around it (--->O). Okay, so now click the left part of your mouse, and run it passed the part you want to copy. After its perfect the way you want it, just press CTRL C and then onto the other canvas press CTRL V. Then it will be pasted. Now your done! C:

advanced blending,
tools of the trade- pen tool & pictures
i will be teaching you how to make this, it's fairly easy but you do need some prior knowledge and experience. this is how i do just about all of my blends.

first, you need to select four pictures. i used a picture of a model, a green scenery, a couple & a person taking a picture. second, open up 491x223 size canvas, or whatever size you want.
paste all of your pictures into the same canvas. i had a general idea of what i wanted.
okay, now for the part that requires a steady hand & a good eye. take the pen tool and select around the girl taking the picture. once you have selected everything around your subject, cut it out. now that you have that out of the way you can make that layer invisible, so you can work on the other layers. take the picture of the model and select around her with the pen tool, you can delete the extra just like you did with the girl taking a picture. put the green scenery behind her, you may have to do something extra to get it to look natural. make the picture of the girl with the camera visible again and set up the the model behind the photographer girl but in front of the green background. i didn't do much to the picture of the couple but set it behind the girl taking the picture. now, the rest is up to you. i just did some coloring, effects, and added text.
tada, there you have it (:
