What is a "font"? ~~Fonts are different styles of typing. They can show your personality, originality, and uniqueness. On WI, you can use 21 font types. Wow, lots of choices! But there are many more out there. How do I use/change my font?
~~To change your font while posting in WI, use the drop-down box in the top row of the editing toolbar. If you haven't selected a font yet, it will simply say, "Font". Click the little arrow at the end of the box, and it lists all of the fonts you can use here on WI. Choose one, and when you type in your post, the text will be in that font. Anything else? ~~You can also change the color, size, and style of your font on WI. Next to the font box, there's a "Size" menu. Click the arrow in the drop-down box, and choose a size. TO change the color, click the arrow next to the underlined "A" and choose any color you like. ((NOTE: You CANNOT use this color blue or this color red. They are reserved for mods/admin ONLY!)) To change the style, you just click the big "B", the slanted "I" of the underlined "U". The "B" makes your letters bold, like this. The "I" makes your letters italic, like this. And the "U" underlines the selected text, like this. You can use more than one at a time, like this.
More Do you own an Avatar/Signature Shop? Have a request, but just can't find the right font to use in it? Want something fun, but your computer doesn't have the right font? Here's a guide where I'll show you how to install an exciting, new font on your computer (I have Windows XP, I'm not sure if this'll work on Macs!)
How to Install New Fonts ~~Ok, you want something interesting. Try searching Google for whatever you want. Ex., "fun fonts".....or "bubble letter font". Or, if you know exactly what you want, type in the name. For ex. "______ font".
~~So you find the right font. Most sites have a preview. Look to make sure that the font is freeware, aka, free. You don't want to give your parents a surprise on their next bill!
~~Once you make sure it's completely free, download it, and save somewhere you'll remember. I usually use "My Documents".
~~Most likely, it is a "zip" file. Open the file, then "Extract". It's a link, usually on the left-hand side of the folder.
~~Once the file(s) are extracted, open the font file and make sure it's what you wanted. (you MIGHT want to read the read-me, it tells you whether the font is free or not)
~~Now you have to install it. Go to Start>>Control Panel. In the Control Panel, double-click the "Font" icon ((you might have to "Switch to Classic View"))
~~A list of all of the fonts you have on your computer will come up.
~~Click File>>Install New Font...
~~A new window will pop up. In the bottom-left, there's a list of files. Double-click "C://" or whichever drive you are using.
~~Then click "Documents and Settings", then your (user)name, then wherever you saved the font.
~~Once you open the folder where you extracted the file, the name of it should show up in the main box above. Click on it, then "OK". The font should install.
And that's basically it! You should be able to use the font in Paint, Photoshop, Word, etc.
Hopefully, I helped all of you guys. Yeah, it's a little confusing... and yeah, I admit computer addict, but I tried to explain it as best I could!
