Default [Guide] Becoming a Gift Trainee

Have you ever wanted to trade items in WKW with other members? Do you ever wonder what it means when someone has the words “Gift Trainee” under their name? If so, then keep reading…

To start, let’s learn what all of these things mean.

The Gift Exchange is where privileged members can work out trades of virtual items on WKW.
  • A Gift Trainee is someone who is learning about the Gift Exchange. They are taught about many aspects by their Gift Coaches.
  • A Gift Coach is an experienced Gift Guru who has been selected by the staff to teach the trainees about the gift exchange.
A Gift Trainee is only able to trade in the training section, with other Trainees, and the Gift Coaches. The training section is separate from the Gift Exchange.
  • A Gifted member is someone who is able to trade gifts in the Gift Exchange. They are allowed to trade with other members who are Gifted or a Gift Guru on a Gift Exchange Thread.
  • A Gift Guru is a member of the Gift Exchange who shows excellent exchanging behavior. They must have completed 50 exchanges, have 100 posts outside the Gift Exchange, and have been apart of the Gift Exchange for at least 30 days. Gift Gurus are able to trade through PMs with other Gurus if they wish.
The Process:

To become a gift trainee, there are a few requirements. You need to have a minimum 50 good, informative posts. Gingerly wrote a great guide about what posts count toward this total, and what don't. Click HERE to view this guide.

Another requirement is that you be a member of the forum for at least two weeks. To check how long you have been a member, go to the “Quick Links.” These are right below the banner, towards the right hand side. After you select quick links, choose “My Profile.” This option is third from the bottom. At the top of the page, is your "Mini Statistics." Right under your post count will be the date you joined. Use this to see if you have been here for more than two weeks. If you can not figure this part out, please PM me and I will be happy to help.

Please not that the numbers above are only a minimum, and that there is no maximum. You can certainly have more than fifty posts, and you can be a member for longer than 2 weeks.

Woo Hoo, you’ve met the requirements! Now what? First, you need to apply to become a trainee. The thread you apply on is “stuck” to the top of the “WI Rules and Suggestions” section. Or you could just follow THIS link! Read over the information on the thread. Once you have read the rules, you can post your agreement on the thread.

The management will review your posts. Please be patient, because every post by every applicant has to be reviewed.
To check and see if your post was deleted, click on “User CP” and select “User CP Home.” Scroll down, past your subscribed threads and your rep, to the “Latest Moderator actions on your posts/thread.” If you post has been deleted, it will say so there, and you can see the reason.
It looks like we no longer have the Mod Actions under our UserCP Home. Please check back for more info on how to see if you were denied.

Cocolion has found a way to check to see if you post has been deleted. Here is what she says:
Quote:
I believe feel that I have a way to know if your post was deleted or not off of the thread. =) If you go to the WI Rules and Suggestions section, then you see the stickied threads, including the WI Offical GE Information. You know the folder with the dot on it means you've posted in that thread, correct? Well if you have previously posted in the WI Offical GE Information thread, then it will have that dot in it, IF the post hasn't been deleted. If you have posted in the thread and that dot isn't there, then the post has been deleted. Can't find the folder?
Click the image to open in full size.Click this bar to view the full image.Click the image to open in full size. I have circled the little folder.

Once your posts have been reviewed and accepted, and there is a spot open, the Training Section will be unlocked for you. You should get a PM regarding this. At the top of the Training Section, there will be the Fair Gift Exchange Policies. You need to read these, and post your agreement. These rules are very important, so be sure you read them thoroughly and understand them. After you post your agreement, a Gift Coach will send you a PM you so that you can get started.

I think that just about sums it up. If you have any questions, feel free to post here, and I will try my hardest to answer them for you. If part of this is inaccurate, or if you feel something should be added, please let me know. If you want to share your experience as a trainee, that would be great!

Do you see under your username, how it says "Webkinz." If the TS section is unlocked, it will change to "Gift Trainee." To my understanding there will also be a new section opened up, and you will see it on the forum index.

The Process:

To become a gift trainee, there are a few requirements. You need to have 50 good, informative posts. These posts have to be constructive and helpful. Posts in the Pet Name section and Roleplays do not count for this count. A great place to gain some posts is the “Somebody Help” section. Fluff posts and spam do not count.
  • Fluff: A post that does not have any meaning. Saying things like “I don’t know.” “Cool” or “Thanks” are considered fluff. Bumping a thread is also considered fluff.
Another requirement is that you be a member of the forum for more than two weeks. To check how long you have been a member, go to the “Quick Links.” These are right below the banner, towards the right hand side. After you select quick links, choose “My Profile.” This option is third from the bottom. Scroll down to the bottom, and right above your post count is the day you joined the forum. Use this to see if you have been here for more than two weeks. If you can not figure this part out, please PM me and I will be happy to help.

Note: If you posted more than 50 posts in more than 2 weeks, you'll stay as a webkinz.
WI Staff means exactly 50 posts in exactly 2 weeks. then you'll become a GT.

Where did you hear that from? I never heard anything about being exact. I know many people who have waited longer and have been accepted.
