I called Ganz today to make sure this had been reported (they were aware of it). I asked the rep to pass along the complaint that Ganz should fix what they have before introducing so much new stuff. She told me that a lot of people have been saying that. Maybe if enough people keep saying it, they will listen.

It worked for me all day today too. I don't even know if the pets are still losing points. I don't want to take the chance of not switching pets as described above to check if the glitch is still happening.
I'm glad it's working too for those of you who tried it.
